I used to use electronic kitchen scales exclusively. When my last one failed during a visit from my family, my mum suggested I get a 'good old fashioned scale' that 'wouldn't go wrong'! Well, I got this as I have prior experience with Dualit (they're great!) and I haven't looked back. It has a clean and compact design - taking up the same space on my counter as my old electronic scale - although this is far easier to use. The dial is large, clear and precise. English and metric units are both catered for with clear markings - black legends for English units and red for metric. The only 'control' is a small adjustment knob on top to zero the reading - which might be necessary if you happen to use a different bowl, for example.

The only minor complaint I have is that the round bowl is not the easiest thing to pour ingredients from - tipping a pound of flour into a bread-machine tin from this needs care to avoid spills. A bowl with a broad lip would have been better.

A great buy - and at the recently discounted price it's a veritable bargain too good to pass up. If only I didn't already have one...
