I got this book as a guide for a five-day trip to Dubai, and it was extremely helpful. It is a small and skinny 128-page book, which meant it fit in my purse and could easily be brought out for quick reference to all of the remarkable sites of Dubai. It is easy to read with great facts and helpful travel tips. I highly recommend it for someone going to Dubai for a shorter stay - if you are going there for a long (over two weeks) time, you will probably want something that digs a little deeper. If I had one complaint, it would be that the maps of the Deira souqs (bazaar) area were not detailed enough. Dubai is not a walkable city, but the souqs of Deira can really only be explored on foot. If you get lost or turned around, it can be rather disorienting. That one portion of the city map could have had more streets listed to assist with that.

These Emirates are changing so quickly and much of this book is already out of date. I used this book to plan a two day trip to Dubai on my way to Pakistan and found the listing of open metro stops to be inaccurate (it had some that weren't yet in service and was also completely missing a few that were open). The hours and descriptions of some of the museums and historical areas were also incorrect. I can't really blame the book since the rate of construction in these areas is so rapid. I'd recommend doing additional research on the Internet.

The included map was very useful and I did not need to purchase an additional one. The photos, as with all Eyewitness Travel Guides, are great and give you a good preview of what to expect.

On a side note, I'd highly recommend going on a Desert Safari if you have more than 1 day in Dubai and/or aren't planning on going to Abu Dhabi. There's only so much time one can spend shopping :)

Great compact book about what and where to go in Dubai. Wonderful for the quick stop over trip to Dubai. Easy to read.

The printing is way too small for middle-aged eyes. The book doesn't contain enough "meat," like how to get around. Any overview is entirely too short. Yes, the book is compact, but at the expense of leaving out a lot of general information. It is mainly aimed at what to do and where to spend money.

They have the best books because it is all color pages and lots of photos and user friendly maps.

This book is small enough to travel with, and yet is chock-full of great information for traveling in Dubai. I checked with friends who had traveled there, and they said the information was quite good and accurate. I'll be checking out the recommendations personally in a few months!

This book, like all the eyewitness guides, essnentially renders all other travel guides obsolete. It is plenty of photos are descriptions of all the major sights. It is brief, but, to be frank, a brief discussion is about all you need on a small topic like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
If you are planning a trip to these areas, this guide is sufficient. As to whether you will actually enjoy a trip to these areas, that is a personal preference. I will certainly not be visiting them a second time.
