Book Description

January 2005
Poetry. "In DUBIOUS ANGELS," Keith Ratzlaff takes a wild leap heavenwards out of antic collisions--collisions between mayhem and majesty, insouciance and piety, piracy and the absolute poverty of an angel's way. This is a spry book, and sobering., 'Like a road/ disappearing in the trees'--Donald Revell. "DUBIOUS ANGELS is collaborative in the deepest sense, one artist taking the work of another as source and following paths it suggests but didn't explore. In their originality, their force of intention, these wonderful poems praise their subjects by living up to Klee's devotion and reach"--Bob Hicok.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspiration, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Dubious Angels: Poems After Paul Klee (Paperback)
This book is an evolution from Ratzlaff's earlier work. It marries art and the sometimes unnoticed complexity of midwestern life. It incorporates beautiful language, landscapes, and life in a unique way. Another review on this page professed that they could have written this poetry, and I think that is wholy untrue. Ratzlaff brings a voice to the page that is unique. Recently I saw, Billy Collins, former United States poet laureate, who defined good poetry as poetry that makes you jelous that you didn't write it. I believe this book does just that.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worstest book ever, April 14, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dubious Angels: Poems After Paul Klee (Paperback)
My mommy read this as a bedtime story. I was so afraid. It kept me up. I couldn't sleep. Ratzlaff is a bad bad author. I could have written this.
