5.0 out of 5 stars OMG!!!!!!
I don't even know where to start with this review. When I first started reading the book, I thought I had a feeling where this story was going and wanted to throw it out of the window, but curiosity got the best of me, so I kept it moving and I am glad that I did. 3.0 out of 5 stars boring
It wasn't good to me. By page 200 I was still waiting for it to pick up. I have read all of this author's books and have enjoyed them all. Except this one. Could have been a shorter story than it was. Too drawn out. There were a few surprises but they wern't that surprising. All in all it was readable and I did finish it.

I don't even know where to start with this review. When I first started reading the book, I thought I had a feeling where this story was going and wanted to throw it out of the window, but curiosity got the best of me, so I kept it moving and I am glad that I did. Even though it covers some degrading crap, Tina told the story tastefully. I have never read anything like this before and I have read over thousands of books. It was a very daring thing to do, but I got to give props to you Tina, you did a excellent job. I too could not put the book down until I finished it. I just hope that others authors don't try to take this subject matter to another level and truly disgust us readers. I'm just glad that I finished the story before I dismissed Tina Brooks McKinney as one of my favorite authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 Stars - So Original it Deserves its Own Genre, August 26, 2009
This review is from: Dubious (Paperback)
Felicia is a sista that has her stuff together - top notch lawyer, comfy home, fine husband and the world at her finger tips. The only issue is she that her husband hasn't been home for any extended time since opening the kennel about two years ago. When he presents her with an ultimatum concerning the business, she calls his bluff and tells him to hit the road. While separating their assets in the divorce, secrets are uncovered that will not only shock you but will draw you into the story and hold you hostage. The secondary story line is just as incredible and addresses defining sexuality, friendship and finding love in the most unlikely places.

McKinney shows her storytelling talent by creating a storyline is so original that it deserves its own genre. I can honestly say that I've never read anything quite like this. Each page kept me in a state of disbelief. This reviewer will issue a warning that the subject matter is very controversial so keep a open mind while reading. If you are ready to read something totally out of the box, DUBIOUS is a MUST READ.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Drama Queen brings it again........, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Dubious (Paperback)
Let me start by saying I knew before i started reading this novel that i wouldn't be able to put it down and i was right. Felicia thought she had the perfect marriage until it crumbled before her eyes.......now divorced and moving toward something new, now she stumbles upon why her marriage end.............................don't want to give away too much, but check it out i bet you'll understand why and how the drama still continues.

I love Tina's writing, she makes you feel like you're sitting right there with the characters in her story. Keep up the good work.

I've started and stopped this review several times. Not quite knowing what exactly to say about this book. WOW and OMG don't quite seem to cut it. But - that's probably as close as I'll get. Although the subject matter was REALLY disturbing, I appreciated this author's way of telling the story. She didn't get you stuck in the details - she took you there and moved you on as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to get the story told.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brick by Brick, June 22, 2009
This review is from: Dubious (Paperback)
Felicia Clark is almost bustling over with needs that her husband, Randy, hasn't met in well over two years. Where has the time gone? Between Felicia managing her law career and Randy indulging in his newest niche at the kennel, time has simply escaped them both. However, when Felicia plans a day of seduction, her plan is halted when Randy selfishly puts his wants out there. Will Felicia continue to make Randy's dream a reality, or will she call Randy's bluff?

`Dubious' by Tina Brooks McKinney opens a Pandora box like none I've ever read. Initially the story was quick witted and had me laughing aloud, but as the story continued to build, it dipped off into twilight zone material. And I have to be honest, this is not what I signed up for. While the characters are the same, it's like when the story took on its secondary plot, the story lost the poise that it started with. I would've liked more, believe it or not, because it just didn't seem to fully add up; instead readers were given the happily ever after version.

I would advise that readers who are interested understand that while it's a good story, with some lively characters, that it deals with a subject line that may not be suitable for all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original . . . and BRAVE, April 30, 2009
This review is from: Dubious (Paperback)
Tina Brooks McKinney has gone where not many would venture to go. FINALLY, an original plotline!! Dubious deals with a subject manner most authors, especially those that have firmly established themselves, would be afraid to discuss. Not Tina. She forged ahead, but dealt with the subject matter in a sensitive, thought-provoking way.

Felicia is a successful attorney and is at her wits end as to why her husband never seems to have time for her. She's been an enabler to all of her husbands dreams and sometimes, lack thereof, because she believed in the credo of standing by her man. But he's caught up in something that he can't seem to control and is not sure he wants to. However, he's too much of a coward to share this with his wife because, after all, she's been funding his folly.

When things come to a head and Felicia finally faces the fact that her marriage is over, she, of course, goes through the "what did I do to ruin my marriage," thing most women do. When she meets Sherman, she finally finds out what a self-possessed, self-made MAN is really like and is ready to get the pieces of her life together. However, when she finally learns the truth about her husband and his ugly secret, she is rocked to the core again, only this time, she's not sure she can recover.

Kudos Tina to a well written story. When you told me about it a few years ago, I was skeptical. But I applaud you for telling this story and being brave enough to stick by your guns!!

Can't wait to read the next one!!

5.0 out of 5 stars TINA does it AGAIN! WOW, March 25, 2009

Dubious...IS NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART! Wow once again, you have kept me on edge waiting for unexpected drama to be revealed. I told you that I didn't have a lot a time to read but funny how I just couldn't put this book down - just like ALL THAT DRAMA. I found time, on the treadmill, bike and frying chicken you name it-and IT WAS WELL WORTH THE TIME and grease burns!!!!!

This is a fabulous story about love, relationship and all the drama that goes with it. Tina told this story so well that it made you want do some background checks on your own shaky acquaintances, coworkers etc. Felicia the main character and her assistant Telisa were a good team and Frick and Frack; let's just say they got what they deserved. WOW what an ending.

I'm playing catch up with the novels I have not read. Moving onto LAWD MO' DRAMA now! Love you-your favorite cuzn.

This book had me neglecting my chores to finish it. I started out following Felicia and shifted to Randy after his encounter. This book really opened my eyes to "so-called" animal lovers. Tina Brooks McKinney have you wanting more in all of her books. I can't wait for the next book. If you don't read anything else this year invest your time in this one. Savvy Book Club
