Wonderful fun, June 29, 2007
This review is from: The Dubliners: Dublin (DVD)
If you're not already a fan of the original Dubliners, this dvd is a fun tour of Dublin. Three of the original members of the group are still living and performing with several other musicians. Ronnie Drew, John Sheahan, and Barney McKenna, although getting up there in years, can give a good performance. They take the viewer on a tour of Dublin sites such as the Georgian townhouses famous for their ornate doors, O'Donohue's Pub, the Zoological Gardens, the house where Brendan Behan grew up, and they sing at each stop. Songs like The Auld Triangle, Finnegan's Wake. Ronnie Drew's gravelly voice is softened for a bittersweet rendition of Rare Ould Times. The only thing that's missing are Ciaran Burke and Luke Kelly who both died far too young.
