This grill used to be much more expensive (over $500) but then the company was bought and the only thing that changed was the price. There is a great site that ranks all the grills, and says that this is the best one for under $500 (and it is well under that price). I haven't had other grills to compare it to, but I have loved it. It has all the best features of top-of-the-line grills, but doesn't have those bells and whistles that make others cost much more. It has ceramic briquettes (much better and rare for such a cheap grill), a stainless steel grate (most in this price range have porcelain), has a reliable lighting system, stainless steel on the inside of the grill (where it matters, stainless steel on teh outside would only be an aesthetic choice), and it heats very evenly. It is also much more efficient than most grills, providing the same amount of heat with much less gas. Don't be fooled by it's lower number of BTUs, since it winds up being just as hot as grills that burn more gas (the only thing is that it will take a couple more minutes to heat up--no big deal). All the parts are high quality--not the kind of cheap grill that only lasts a couple years.

I highly recommend this, and be sure to buy some sort of cover to make it last even longer.

More than big enough for a family of 5. 12 Burgers will fit on the grill easily. Could not be easier to start. Not having a grease pan to clean out is wonderful!

Finally replaced by old beat up Charboiler with the Ducane. All I can say is that I should have done it a long time ago. Cooks everything great.

I've added a thermometer to the lid since I bought it just to be able to monitor the temperature. I bought a generic one at Home Depot and drilled a hole to install it.

BTW, you will get flame flareup if the juices drip onto the ceramic pieces. The grates do not allow you to spray water onto the flames to extinguish them. I recommend that you just blow them out or move the food to one side of the grill and turn off the burner on that side. Other than that, works like a charm!

This is fine grill but I'm afraid that the Ace Hardware store that Amazon subcontracts to sell this item was DUMPING their old and damaged inventory.

When we opened the box we noticed there was a hole at the bottom and the plastic bag holding the fasteners and such was broken and this wide assortment of hardware had exploded throughout the box. Besides this the unit itself was scored by mishandling.

Ducane (Weber) is a fine company and had a customer support person available to order the many missing parts. There were so many missing by the way, that our intended "chicken barbeque" had to be fashioned otherwise.

When I spoke with the man in customer service at Weber he took down the serial number and found that the unit I bought in Dec. 2006 was a 2005 model. Thanks alot Ace Hardware for dumping damaged and obsolete inventory on me :-(

I've gone through many $100 grills in my life. Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Home Depot - they've all taken my money, sold me something that worked for a year, then had me coming back for more a year later, like some kind of truly pathetic grill crack addict. I decided to break the cycle and go for a quality product; I'm so glad I did! 3 years later, I'm still using the same grill, after a number of propane tanks, some new ceramic briquettes, and a couple cleanings, I can't recommend Ducane products enough.

Typical grills will have:

1. Burners clog - not on this one. They still fire like a champ.

2. The starter break - again, nope, it still starts without needing matches, flamethrowers, or anything else.

3. RUST! - not a spot of rust anywhere on this beauty, even after some spectacular Midwest winters sitting outside.

This is a great, high quality grill. It's actually saved me money over buying a new piece of junk every year. That's green, and green in my pocket.

Arrived all in good order and went together in about 30 mins. Other than the drawings being a bit small, everything went together quite easily. Much of it was actually pre-assembled (controls, etc.) which was nice. Will fire it up this weekend!
