My Kindergarteners loved this story. The illustrations are adorable and really catch the children's interest. A sweet and fun Christmas story about some animals forced to spend Christmas eve stuck in a bookstore due to a blizzard outside. They make the best of it and have themselves a lovely Christmas party and in the end they find a surprise.

Five-year-olds have a different sense of humor than we do. Out of the dozens of library books we've gone through recently, this was my son's choice to purchase so we can have it all the time. He tells me it's hilarious. I don't really see it, but Kathy Caple obviously does. I read that she's a children's librarian, and she seems to understand how young minds work (sort of a prerequisite, you'd think, but so many children's book authors don't). The story hits a nice balance between richness and length. You can decide from the cover image whether you like the art style and typography; I don't. But then, it's not for me, right?
