Very cute book!,

I was walking through the book store looking for books for my 17 month old and this book caught my eye because of the beautiful fall colors. The story is short (but not too short), cute and funny, and I love the illustrations. This is our first duck & goose book and now I can't wait to get more!

Well, on my own first read I would have had to agree with the one star poster, it is a very simple little book with only a few words per page and not much for discussing/pointing out in the pictures (each page is essentially "Goose, is our pumpkin the the ____ (log, apple tree, pond etc)" "No"). I find it repetitive to read but my son does love it and asks for it repeatedly so I suppose that is the real test.

A new favorite,
This review is from: Duck & Goose, Find a Pumpkin (Board book)
My children LOVE this book and all the Duck and Goose stories...I am getting them out of the library so often that I know I have to give in and buy some. My 4-year old in particular loves this Find A Pumpkin one because he thinks it is funny that the birds are looking in such silly places and he likes to say "no way" instead of "no" when the pumpkin isn't in the log or water, etc (he especially likes when they look on the tree stump...he's always says "no way, it's an acorn!"). He interacts well with it and the concept is of no challenge for him to grasp. Sometimes I find that I add lines and expressions (be creative) with it, which might be more for me then the kids, but over-all the pictures/visuals are beautiful and classic...my two-year old loves to look at these books and my four-year old loves to hear them and add his own lines, too. These books are made for young children and it shows. Good stories, good pictures and a good way to spend time with my children.

Love this book!,

The Duck and Goose books are wonderful! Our 2 year old son has loved this book since before he was 1. The illustrations are great and they are short enough to really keep his attention. This is the first book he grabs when it is time to read at night. His favorite thing to do while reading this book is to shake his head, "No!" during the story, in all the right places. Now, he even picks up the book and flips through the pages shaking his head , "No" all on his own.

The best thing about this book- the characters! They are so sweet and I absolutely love the illustrations. They are bright in oranges, reds, and yellows. The text is very simple- 3 to 4 words a page. This book is probably best for young toddlers- an older toddler or preschooler might not be interested as much.

I was SO bored reading this to my 3 year old son. I didn't think he would make it through the book. He loves it though! I only read it to him a few times and he was essentially reading it back to me. Maybe that's why he enjoys it so much. I can't imagine a child older than 3 enjoying this book.

Our duaghter loves the duck and goose books. This is one is dull and sort of makes the duck and goose seem stupid. We grew a pumpkin in our garden so our duaghter tries to tell them to look there. She does always ask to read this one though...

This is a nice board book with bright colors and a simple, repetitive story. Duck & goose look for a pumpkin in all sorts of places ("Is our pumpkin in the tree?" "NO") before finally finding their pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. Great for little ones to learn & follow logic and help discover where one might find a pumpkin.

A great fall book,

I bought this book last fall when my son was 3 months and pulled it out again in early September when he was 15 months. He loves it. He chooses it every night and asks for it more than once sometimes. He says, "No" right along with us while we are reading. He points out the duck and pumpkins.
The pictures are well drawn and have just the right amount of detail. The story, while simple, has a beginning, middle, and end. There is a problem and a solution. There is humor. I am not sure what else you could want in a board book. I look forward to reading other Duck & Goose books. I see there is a Christmas one.

My 19 month old loved this book the first time we read it! The illustrations are just adorable. The story is quick and she picked up on the pattern immediately, and I can tell that she really enjoyed looking for the pumpkin. This book is perfectly suited for a toddler's attention span. I recommend it!
