*"That rollicking and adorable quintet of ducks is back in a new seasonal adventure–camping. All of the excitement of living out of doors…are conveyed in bouncy, rhyming text paired with bright, cheerful watercolor illustrations. Young children will delight in the ducks’ adventures and mishaps while...absorbing subtle counting and color lessons. Stylish jacket design visually connects this title to its predecessors, Duck Skates (2005) and Duck Dunks (2008, both Holt). Pitch-perfect, it will leave children and adults looking forward to more escapades from these endearing ducks."--School Library Journal, Starred Review
"With pitch-perfect rhymes that trip merrily along each page and airy, clever watercolors, this companion to Berry and Nakata's Duck Skates and Duck Dunks is infectious… Readers will be left with a taste for some outdoor adventures of their own."--Publishers Weekly
"A plot summary can’t convey this picture book’s charm, which lies in its cheerfully bouncing rhymed couplets and expressive ink-and-watercolor artwork. Both writer and illustrator understand young children’s thrill at being scared, but not too scared, before the story’s satisfying ending."--Booklist

Very cute story about 5 ducks going camping. The watercolors are beautiful. They inspired me and my kid to take out our watercolors and dabble. Very enjoyable.

This review is from: Duck Tents (Hardcover)
It's going to be a lot of fun because everyone loves camping. Five little ducks are busy setting up their colored tents. One duck is hammering the last stake, while two of them have a mischievous one that is flapping in the breeze. Three tents up, two to go and they'll be all ready. Of course a little squirrel sits in a tire swing munching on an acorn enjoying the entertainment. "All five up!" the ducks proudly announce and they start putting all their gear inside. A little of this, a little of that. There is everything any duck could possibly want for a camping trip!
All five ducks grab their straw hats, a fishing pole, chairs and mats and they're off to catch a few fish for their dinner. The lines are in and they only have to wait. Wait, there is something! "One duck yanks. Two ducks lunge. Three ducks lean. Four ducks plunge. Five ducks heave and five ducks haul. One duck slips-and four ducks sprawl!" Oooops, they lost him. They all head back when it starts to get dark. All of a sudden they hear a "whoo-whoo-whoooooo." They rush to hide in their tents. What can that horrible scary noise be? Whooo is it? This is an adorable story that children will want read to them time and time again. The art work is animated and the story in rhyme is very appealing. This is a perfect story to read aloud at bedtime, circle time, at homeschool . . . it's a great one to read anywhere!
