5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Work Great!
I installed an exhaust fan in my garage. I wanted it to come on and go off automatically. I bought the Duct Stat for this purpose. I mounted the Duct Stat to a rafter in the garage, making sure the air hole in the back was unobstructed. I plugged the Duct Stat into a 110v outlet that was all ready installed in the garage. Then I plugged the fan into the Duct Stat. Here...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
I never got this to work, tried many, many times for 2 weeks. During that period it did manage to turn my fan on 4 times, but two of those times the temperature was not near hot enough for it to have come on. And it never once turned the fan off automatically - it would run for hours before we would have to manually turn it off.
I bought this for cooling a cabinet...

I bought this for cooling a cabinet that I had put a LCD TV in, & there was no ventilation, so didn't want my expensive TV to overheat. This thing's thermostat is a joke. You have a little wheel to turn, and the instructions are pathetic - 'turn the wheel clockwise until the fan comes on, turn it counter-clockwise until it turns off' - no mention of what temperature the thing should be at while you're setting it... Didn't matter anyway. I had a digital thermometer right next to this thing & tried many times to get it to work to no avail.
It mentions within 3-6 degrees of precision, ha!
I tried everything, sent it back. Possibly just a defective one.Duct Stat Automatic Duct FanThermostat

Here is how I set the temperature: First I put a thermometer in the garage. When the temperature in the garage reached the temperature I wanted the fan to come on, I set the Duct Stat. I moved the switch on the Duct Stat to heat. This sounds backwards but it's not in this case. Remember this devise was designed to be used in ducting. I moved the adjustment screw until the fan came on. No need to move it anymore. When the temperature gets to the set point the fan comes on. It will stay on as long as temperature stays above this point. If the temperature drops below this point it will turn off. This setup works perfectly and keeps my garage a lot cooler in the hot summer months.

Does just what it says. Set it on hot or cold then adjust the knob to make the fan (or whatever) turn on or off. It may be backwards to some as to how to set it up. But once set it seems to work. It's not super accurate (no digital temp readout or anything) just a knob to turn a unit on or off with depending on ambient temp. The temperture gauge is accessed through a hole on the back as well as the slits on the front. No external wire or anything unfortunatly for the temp gauge. Simple enough for the money.

Excellent service/delivery time. The unit however proved defective. I contacted the seller and received a very prompt response. They arranged shipping for me to return the product for a replacement. Service like this takes the worry out of buying online. Great Job!
