More About the Author

Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon are the pseudonyms under which many ghostwriters penned the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, respectively. Both series were created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate book packaging firm, in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Stratemeyer's daughter, Harriet, and syndicate writer Mildred Wirt Benson were the two people primarily responsible for bringing the iconic character of Nancy Drew to life in the minds and hearts of millions of readers around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can Nancy corrall the suspect in the stable?, January 17, 2008
By
This review is from: Dude Ranch Detective (Nancy Drew Notebooks #37) (Paperback)
Nancy, Bess and George have been taken on a really cool trip to a dude ranch, where they can use all they've learned taking riding lessons back in River Heights! It all looks like good fun, until Nancy's horse, Star disappears!

A boy named Josh, who the girls have dubbed "the biggest pest in the west," already told the girls that he was going to have a horse of his own... Josh says he can keep him in his room -- if he moves the bed against the wall!

Is Josh pesty enough to have hidden Star somewhere? And what about the spooky legends circulating at the ranch?

It'll take all of Nancy's cool determination and her trusty blue notebook to narrow down all the clues and suspects 'till the real villain is found!
