A soundtrack that changed my life, February 6, 2008

I was one of the few fans of this movie back in the late 80's and likely one of the few fans of the soundtrack as well. Musically it's a mix of late 80's punk and metal with a dash of what was to become alternative thrown into the mix.... and most of it has a slightly western feel. There are the rip roaring metal tracks from Keel, W.A.S.P. and Megadeth seething with that 80's end of the world vibe, a couple of punk tracks from The Vandals, The Little Kings and Legal Weapon (who's Time Forgot You, is more of a proto-alt country track that I really wish someone would cover, Neko Case are you reading?) and then a bit of The Leather Nun doing some industrial rock and of course Jane's Addiction are present with The Mountain Song. The one thread that is present almost all the ay though the album is a level of energy and movement tying almost all of the selections together. Now I will be the first to say that this isn't a perfect album, some tunes are over produced, to slick or in hind site just plain cheesy, but for me, as a teenage outsider with zero real exposure to pop music, beyond a few stolen moments of top 40 radio here and there, this was the gateway to all kinds of music that I would follow and love for the rest of my life.

One Good Song, May 17, 2006

I got this as an LP back in the 80's for a dollar. It has one awesome song and the others are just ok. Rock And Roll Outlaw by Keel is Keel's best song. Does anyone know a way I can get that song without having to buy this cd?
