Yeah, his voice does sound a little like Sting, but his music has more in common with the working class rock and roll typified by Bruce Springsteen before The Boss ate a monster slice of morose pie and got deep starting with "Nebraska." Nek's music is more about cruisin' the Jersey boardwalk with the wind in your hair, and making plans with your friends on a lazy summer day with endless possibilities ahead. Okay, so he's singing in Italian so I don't reeeeeeally know what the songs are about, but they smell like my adolescent years to me.

The first song you're going to want to turn to on this CD is Track #3, Se Una Regola C'e. This is his biggie, the song I heard on radio stations from Vienna to Istanbul in the summer of '99. It starts with a guitar riff that faintly echoes of Born to Run, albeit without the signature bass line. Nek launches directly into his singing with a melody that catches you and throws you around and spits you out right before the chorus comes along and hits you upside the head. Try listening to this song at high and low volumes- the louder you play him, the better he sounds.

Two other knockout songs are Ho In Testa Te, a slower song that has the feel of a chant about the verses, while the chorus parts soar in an easy floating melody, and Se Vuoi Se Puoi, which doesn't immediately appeal but grows on you.

He's got the slow ballads, too, and they're good, but you expect that from an Italian teen heart throb.

Unlike Latin American artists like Jon Secada, Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony who actually sound better in Spanish than they do singing identical songs in English, I think Nek would do well in translation. I've seen some of his stuff in Spanish but no English versions yet.

i think all his music is really good i know italian and spanish and no matter what language he uses to sing his songs ,they always sound nice and beautiful,,he has the talent and a very powerful voice, everytime i listen to his music i feel like im flying!im his #1 fan and i will recomend his music to everyone,it has nice words and believe me you wont be sorry if you buy his cd's ,,his songs are kind of adventure,like dreams ,that takes you far away,and you just want to listen to them over and over again so come on guys,,buy as much as you can i promise that you will love them all ,,,,,

This album ranks at the top of my italian music purchase list. My understanding is that Nek wrote these songs when he was a young man. The lyrics are mature, honest, and heartwarming. The sound is unique, seminole to a "new" italian sound, catchy and skillfully played italian rock pop. In fact, I find ALL of Nek's music to be this way. It is no accident that he was a winner of the annual italian music festival- SanRemo- at a very young age. Once you listen to this album you'll be surprised at what talent such a young person can emit. Nek's voice and music touches and warms the heart with acceptance of and descriptive poetic commisseration with everyday life happenings to which all of his listeners can relate. What hooked me on this album was the song- "se io non avessi te." I heard it for the first time in the summer of 1998 while I was vacationing in Italy. I bought the cd just for that poignant,catchy pop love song with exceptional guitar work. It is a heart touching song that is rocker sweet while not being saccharine and fake. When I got the cd home and listened to all of it in its entirety, I realized that the whole cd was just as fantastic. There is not a bad song in the bunch! I would whole-heartedly recommend this album to anyone looking to "class-up" their music lists. I am confident that you will not be disappointed or ridden with regret if you make a musical investment in Nek's work. Even to the most jaded italian pop music fans, this cd will be a reliable, soothing, comforting album that you will turn to time and time again, as I have, to satisfy your need for wholesome yet gritty and descriptive lyrics matched with deep, balanced and poignant music. It definitely is music that changed the face of italian pop for the better with its rare, new rock sound. This cd will be a friend that will never let you down even in your most needy hour of longing and desire for spiritual and emotional connection. Again, I urge you to buy this cd and you'll be crooning out your heart right along with Nek in no time. This is a loving, touching rock album to be appreciated and revered. It is an acquisition to be coveted by all for years to come. Nek is truly a sincere friend that spans the generations. Whoever listens to the album would want a talented friend like Nek singing a lullaby of sweet rock reality to them. Thankfully, the cosmos have responded and have Nek encapsulated in this reliable, true cd for everyone to enjoy whenever they want. All who have listened to Nek's music will definitely agree that there are no fakes here- just pure, unadulterated italian pop rock that will stand the test of time.
