This review is from: Dueling in the Old South: Vignettes of Social History (Paperback)
This is one of the very few books on duelling that goes beyond simple recitation of "A fought B" ancedotes. Williams covers the social milieu of duelling, the details of the code of honor, and the issues of how duelling fit into the entire culture of the antebellum South. The reprint of Governor Wilson's "Code of Honor" is an added benefit. A must-buy if you have an interest in the subject.
