5.0 out of 5 stars DUENDE: Music with a Soul
This is an outstanding collection of beautiful and ingenious compositions. All of the songs seem to flow like a stream of consciousness, as DUENDE is the moment when the music and the listener become one, and the music then takes us to that emotional realm. Music with passion is DUENDE. "Night in the South", "Gate of Mystery", "Asturias...

3.0 out of 5 stars Do they still call it New Age?
After reading some others reviews I thought this would be a good buy. It was ok but not for what I was looking for or had imagined. I mistakenly thought this might be flamenco, at worse nuevo flamenco. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is nice guitar work, although a little light and new age-ish. The use of castanets does not make it flamenco. Some of the...

This is an outstanding collection of beautiful and ingenious compositions. All of the songs seem to flow like a stream of consciousness, as DUENDE is the moment when the music and the listener become one, and the music then takes us to that emotional realm. Music with passion is DUENDE. "Night in the South", "Gate of Mystery", "Asturias XXI", are but a few of the MANY great ones on this CD. Can't wait for his NEXT CD! A tough act to follow!

This selection will take you to a far way land. I have found myself driving 80 miles an hour down I-95 listening to #5 Asturias XXI. This is my second purchase by Encinas and I am waiting for AURORA to arrive any day. Beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder......music is no different. You must hear in order to appreciate this album's beauty.

I bought this cd on a whim & have recently purchased 4 more for gifts. I listen daily to unwind and to enjoy the evenings. Music for 2, low lites, good wine, cool nites, hanging out and enjoying life. This man helps us realize that it is good to be alive. Enjoy.

Some of the songs are driven and inspired but there are many that are the backdrop for a movie. Sunsets and windsurfers must abound on the coast of Spain as the music seems fitting for a travel video. Jazzy and with hints of fusion linked to the past the music is even melancholy at times. It is an intersting mixture but nothing inventive. The guitarist is skilled and plays a variety of forms including classical and jazz. A lttle too mellow and not enough passion for the most part. The hybrid style fits best into the dreaded pop jazz category that just happens to be played by a Spaniard. Not even as good as Armik and the host of others who jumped on the nuevo flamenco bandwagon this new age number falls a little short. Enough good tracks for a sampler but not for a full CD. If you are about to go sailing you might want to bring this along, otherwise catch another wave, this is not the next wave.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most sensual ever, June 13, 2001

The artist never proclaims to be pure flamenco, but the flamenco guitar is the basis for all of the tracks. I found this to be the most sensual and hauntingly beautiful CD I've ever owned. If the first four tracks don't get you in the mood for love...well, then, you have other problems. I write romantic novels and Senor Encinas certainly provides the right mood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect music for a summer evening., February 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Duende (Audio CD)
I first heard this CD while shopping in a new age store last summer. I bought it there and listened to it as soon as I got in the car. I then listened to it every day for the next 3 weeks. It is the perfect accompaniment when eating a candlelit dinner and sitting on my deck watching the moon rise over the hills. Now, every time I play it, I think fondly of those summer nights and can't wait for next summer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Listening, May 22, 2000
This review is from: Duende (Audio CD)
This is a great CD. I'm online to see if Jose has made another yet. If you are tired of Ottmar Lieberts rehashed stuff you will love this Encinas CD called Duende. It is filled with creativity and passion. I'm 50 years old and 2 songs brought tears to my eyes! ENJOY!
