Does Duet or Duel Deliver?,
By ApologiaPhoenix (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Duet or Duel? (Paperback)
Huyssteen's book is meant to explain evolutionary epistemology, yet I did not see how this was done in the book. I found it to be interesting in how he describes the relationship he sees between science and religion and I was pleased to see how he went after Dawkins and I'd be interested in seeing what it would look like if he were to edit this book after the release of "The God Delusion." However, when it came to his own case, I did not see it.
When I finished the book, I had the feeling that I had read a story more than an argument, which seems to be my concern with much in evolutionary explanation today. It seems I often get stories of how X might have happened and because it might have happened that way, then it did happen that way. I do not believe Huyssteen explained his case of what exactly evolutionary epistemology is or how it came about. I also wondered if he would be able to handle the charge brought about bt Plantinga's argument of "An Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism." This book does give some interesting aspects of scientific theory in relation to religious belief, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to deliver its own theory. I need more than a story. I need an argument.
