4.0 out of 5 stars These guys can swing, July 31, 2011
This review is from: Duke Ellington Project (DVD Audio)
It met my expectations. The trumpeter, Lew Soloff, was great. the wa wa was kept to a minimum. Opus One swung more than Tommy Dorsey's version. The only drawback was that there were no Benny Goodman cuts. Otherwise, it was a fine CD. I would recommend it as a good deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solo work free for all, April 9, 2004
By
This review is from: Duke Ellington Project (DVD Audio)
A modern intrpetation. Its a free for all with lots of creative solo innovation. Very brassy trumpet solos and with a little too much of the the muted "wa wa" gymnastics for me. Violin solos are innovative.
