Product Description

Edition: Jewel Case

Gaming's king of action returns in an all new adventure, this time in New York City. Duke battles his way across towering skyscraper rooftops and through gritty subway stations on the hunt for power-hungry villain, Mech Morphix. Mutants of every kind are thrown at Duke as he chases down Morphix through eight huge environments and avoids the green slime called GLOPP that is causing all the chaos. But radioactive smile isn't Duke's only problem - there are more than 25 uniquely dangerous mutated enemies hell-bent on making a meal of him. Whether it's Uzi-sporting alligators or ten-foot ball roach beasts - Duke's in town to blast bad guys and save babes. Sure, pipe bombs, a machine gun, a rocket launcher and a pulse cannon are gonna make a goo-filled mess in the Big Apple, but what's a hero to do?

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll Have A F****in' Great Time Playing This Baby!, November 13, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Duke Nukem Manhattan Project (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
Explitives are a given in any good ol' fashion Duke Nukem game and this one's full of 'em!

Welcome to Duke Nukem's Manhattan Project! Fans of Duke's previous incarnations might have an issue here in terms of concept.

Keep in mind that this is a 3D PLATFORM GAME! Not a FPS like the other Duke Nukem games! Since I'm a fan of both, I had a blast playing this!

First off, it's a great looking game. It's well renedered, well designed and fluid. The over conceptual art is unique and fascinating to admire. I caught myself looking around at environments and not noticing that I was being shot at at times.

Next is the patented Duke humor. This game is just as funny as the other games. Great one-liners delivered with the greatest of cheese- I mean ease. The plot carries the corniness through out well. The voice-over acting is spot-on.

Weapons. What's a Duke Nukem game without an arsenal? Terrific assortment of guns, bombs and Goop guns. The gauges are well displayed and the enemies' damage gauges too. There aren't many bosses, but when there are, they aren't pu**ie* like Duke calls them.

Game control. Very tight. Like all platform games it is vital to control the character well and I had no problems doing so here.

Camera angles. My only gripe in the game. Sometimes when the character "turns" the 3D elements turn the camera angle to a difficult position. This was very frustrating at times and killed the fun for me a lot.

There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of hidden things to find. Sometimes, I got annoyed when I didn't get all 10 Nukes, but it's not mandatory in order to complete the game.

Overall, it's a great game that both Duke fans and platform lovers will enjoy.

PS: Yes- there are plenty of babes to rescue.
