5.0 out of 5 stars I'm pleased.
The product was shipped, and arrived swiftly. It was found to be an excellent, sturdy, nutcracker. A walnut has no chance against this tool. A word of advice, place a towel over the nut when cracking them, as sharp shards of the shells will shoot across the room... and you don't want to step on one of those. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly made?
I was looking for a Walnut Cracker and saw this one made in China for Duke. While this one will work it won't last over years of use. Anvil threads are over sized like all Chinese products. This means the nut anvils will move quite a bit and it can also lead to stripping the threads out. Over all casting is not good and those type of flaws will cause failure or it to...

I got this product to crack black walnuts. It works. It's sturdy. It has a nice appearance.

Warning: the walnuts crack in an explosive way, spraying bits of their hard and highly abrasive shells all over the place. These shells have SHARP points.

Safety glasses should be worn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Walnut Cracker, April 21, 2011
This review is from: 0150 Walnut Cracker
My husband and I have 3 macademia nut trees and have been looking the perfect nut cracker. We had been using a bench vice to crack them in the past and it always crushed the entire nut and we ended up with "nut pieces".
This nut cracker is the best thing going. I crached over 1/2 gallon of nuts the other day in under 30 minutes and they all came out whole. The nut shells are contained on the counter and don't fly all over the place. I wish we would have found this nut cracker years ago. We have not yet tried it on other types of nuts but I'm convinced it will work just fine on any kind of nut you want to crack.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly made?, November 11, 2011
This review is from: 0150 Walnut Cracker
I was looking for a Walnut Cracker and saw this one made in China for Duke. While this one will work it won't last over years of use. Anvil threads are over sized like all Chinese products. This means the nut anvils will move quite a bit and it can also lead to stripping the threads out. Over all casting is not good and those type of flaws will cause failure or it to not function well. In recent years I have come to realize that Chinese products are generally inferior even if they carry what was once an American Company name ( Poison dog food, people food, lead paint toys, cutlery made from poor quality stainless steel, are examples). I ended up buying a Master Nutcracker from the man who invented this. I really don't know him but is great to deal with and a retired Vet. It is still made in America and is far higher in quality workmanship. It is the smoothest, unbelievably easiest nut cracker I have ever used (I have three different ones too). Cost a little more but well worth it. Also for people having shells fly around while cracking Walnuts. Generally that is caused in large volume by Walnuts which have been stored and both shell and meat have dried out too much. Also if the Anvil threads are loose the Anvil cups that crack the nut won't line up even and shell pieces will fly around like bullets. ( I have a Kinkel Nutcracker that does that for that reason. Since it is a verticle cracker yu can't cover the nut with a towel either.). Fresh Walnuts may have some particles pop around but not in large quantity since there are still oils in the meat and shell. Think in terms of breaking a dry limb and a green one. Makes me wonder how many nuts being sold come from other distant countries. You can put a light towel over the nut and anvils to help prevent shells flying around. I also on fresh nuts cup my open hand over the top and sides of the anvils, but never so that with older drier nuts, those flying pieces can hurt. Also don't get a finger between the anvils. I also wear glasses so automatically have some eye protection from those flying shell pieces. What I do may not be the safest, so use common sense. I have tried to write an honest objective review. As an older person I have also realised how much quality has been sacrificed by buying sub-contracted Chinese made, (formerly American invented and made), products too. In the long run we get a lot less for our money spent. Hope this review is helpful to someone too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Chinese copy of American made nut cracker, July 10, 2011
This review is from: 0150 Walnut Cracker
I did not purchase a nut cracker from this vendor but another of the several dozen who sell this cheaply made import. I invented this nut cracker and started selling them in 1990 and have since sold several thousand. The DUKE'S of Mississippi purchased one of my nut crackers and sent it to China for duplication and have distributed it throughout the
US. It is poorly made with very little precision. Some claim it contains machine hardened steel, others stainless, both are lies. The last offer I had to purchase the Chinese copy I could purchase at port of entry for $11.00, my castings alone are $15.00, total cost of materials $29.00 plus 2 hours of labor. How can an American company compete with this?.
May your children and grand sons and daughters never be forced to speak Chinese.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Machining, October 11, 2011
This review is from: 0150 Walnut Cracker
Unit is Chinese made and the machining is poor, especially the tapped holes for the "cracker bolts". They are tapped oversize and are sloppy loose. I added back up nuts to the cracker bolts to reinforce it and prevent the threads from tearing out. Hopefully, it will last for awhile. Definitely not U.S. made quality.

The walnut cracker was not sturdy enough to crack a walnut. The screws were loose. I was very disappointed in the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Chinese junk, November 20, 2011
This review is from: 0150 Walnut Cracker
Don't buy this. It's cheap Chinese junk and parts will wiggle loose and break. The original, which this design was ripped off from, is called the "Master Nut Cracker" and is made in Missouri. If you want to nuts on an industrial scale, the "Master" is the one to get. You will be disappointed with this aluminum knock-off. I was.
