Book Description

November 30, 2010 Avon

The "Seven Deadly Sins" lived for scandal and delighted in disgrace, but now they must repent—in marriage!

A sin he cannot forget

The Duke of Exeter knows it's time to find a bride, and he's determined to locate the passionate minx who enticed him in a pitch-black library. But how can you find someone you've never really seen? Then, while supervising his young ward's education, he is irresistibly attracted to her exquisite new teacher. He keeps wondering if they've met somewhere before, never suspecting she's the woman he's never forgotten after his one night of sin.

A wicked secret

As a beloved instructress at an exclusive school for young ladies, Lady Siusan Sinclair is a model of deportment. But no one knows her secret—that she fled London for Bath, her reputation on the verge of tatters, her fortune lost. Still, no matter how hard she tries, she can't forget the knee-weakening kiss of the man who led her astray . . .

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

For the first time in her life, Lady Siusan Sinclair might actually have to work for a living. If she hadn’t ducked into the darkened library during the gala for Sebastian Beaufort, the new Duke of Exeter, she never would have encountered the tall, dark, and oh-so-sexy man who mistook her for his prearranged assignation. Instead of thinking things through, Siusan gives in to the moment, only to later realize that if word gets out about her romantic interlude, she will be ruined. To get out of London, Siusan accepts a post as the new instructress of social graces at Mrs. Huddleston’s School of Virtues in Bath. Things actually seem to be working out better than Siusan expected, until the Duke of Exeter suddenly turns up at Mrs. Huddleston’s to retrieve his new ward. The third installment in Caskie’s devilishly clever Seven Sins series delivers a dazzling combination of scintillating romance and wicked wit. --John Charles

5.0 out of 5 stars The Duke's Night of Sin, December 7, 2010
Sebastian Beaufort, Duke of Exeter, has not been able to forget the passionate interlude he had in the library at party. The only problem is, it was so dark he's not sure exactly who his lover was. Lady Siusan Sinclair is one of what Society considers "The Seven Deadly Sins," one of the seven children of the Duke of Sinclair. She was in the library mourning the anniversary of her fiancé's death when Sebastian arrived for a tryst with another woman. Thinking to escape the pain she succumbed to his seduction, little knowing it could lead to the possible destruction of her reputation. But now that she and Sebastian are in constant contact with each other, can she keep herself from telling him the truth, especially as she falls in love with him?

Loaded with passion and intrigue The Duke's Night of Sin has introduced me to a whole new world which I am compelled to explore! How have I missed this series? I will be running to pick up the other books in The Seven Deadly Sins series and am immediately adding Kathryn Caskie to my "must read authors" list!

2.0 out of 5 stars had SOME potential, December 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Duke's Night of Sin (Avon) (Mass Market Paperback)
This story is as superficial as anything one can come up with. It was very disappointing. The reason I bought it, was because the sample seemed promising. However, that is all that was/is promising about this book.

The characters are not well developed, neither is the plot for that matter.

Our Heroine is supposed to mature and find her own way in the world, as she (along with her 6 siblings) has continously disappointed her father, so he has issued an ultimatum. This maturing happens while she teaches young girls (after she has run away to hide, mind you - a very mature thing indeed) to pour tea, shop, and the proper way to use their fans, whilst publishing a column about the very same things. HMMM!!! Quiet the maturing, character building experience.

Also, she seems rather promiscious. She slept with our Hero (who in my opinion is a bit of a fool, not that anticipated alpha male) at the very beginning of the book, in a library, cast in shadows (so they both do not know each other's identities) as a moment of loneliness, missing her dead fiance. I can understand that; however, she then sleeps with the hero again, after being introduced to him as someone not himself (and he thinks he recognizes her, but isn't quiet sure). And here is another issue, her love for her fiance has vanished; she has not mentioned him or thought of him since the first few chapters in the book.

The love story between the two is not at all well developed. They are thrown into each others' company and nothing of consequence happens. There is no witty banter, no discussions whatsoever. How are they supposed to get to know one another and develop a relationship.

Our hero's history is also bland. Inheriting the dukedom after his brother passed, the current duke is confused and is giving into the urgings of others - grandmother - inorder to rid the family name of their ill reputation. At the end he shows some backbone by standing up to his grandmother and marrying the heroine. Even the pressure he is put under is underdeveloped.

I really don't see why this book got published. Some serious revisions were needed. I don't understand why this book costs so much money. I too (like one other reviewer) wishI could sell my kindle version of it. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Working your way through the sins of life is such fun reading, December 2, 2010
This review is from: The Duke's Night of Sin (Avon) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sebastian Beaufort, The Duke of Exeter is trying to avoid obtaining a wife, making a grand entrance and survive his newly obtained title. Lady Siusan Sinclair is attempting to regain her father's favor, not commit any additional family sins which is difficult when you family has been labeled the Seven Deadly Sins and stay under any bachelor's radar.

When Siusan and Sebastian have a clandestine meeting every good intention flyies out the window and they both are seeking additional sins that might not have been broken on the sofa, in the dark, without an exchange of names. Siusan does not want Sebastian to know who she is so fleeing to the far regions of England and becoming a teacher makes the most sense. But her idea of what to teach the young girls is much different than they are used to because she wants them to be educated and learn to run a household - very scandalous.

Sebastian can't give up Siusan and seeks her out and when he finds her the pretense of games has to stop. She must admit who she is to him and confess the one sin she keeps committing - lying about her feelings for him. Yet Siusan has other ideas and pursing them will let her stay at the School of Virtues and further educate the girls as well as write a manual for all the other young women seeking knowledge of how to grow up and become respectable wives. Sebastian has other ideas and he keeps pushing them onto Siusan and yet she pulls back still trying to save her reputation and restore family honor.

But rain, snow, distance nor carriage accidents can keep them apart and Sebastian will do but is honorable as well as desirable toward Siusan. Even when a voice screams that she has a reason to stop this relationship Sebastian has had the feel of Siusan body and soul are in his hands and he wants and needs her for life. But can the right decision be made and will Siusan choose her family or her lover?

This series is riveting because the characters are so full of life and interact exactly as a family would. They stand beside one another through the bad times but never fail to blast you with the truth as they see it. Siusan is tender and thoughtful which offsets Sebastian's tough and commanding personality. They are a good combination and a wonderful story.
