The chronicles of the modern wife told with wit & hilarity, February 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dulcie Domum's Bad Housekeeping (Paperback)
Bad Housekeeping is the first of a three part series that profiles the life of a modern English wife in the suburbs. Dulcie Domum, the heroine is the acerbics answer to the Martha Stewart afflicted (It's a good thing as Martha would say). Dulcie lives with her husband (always referred to only as "Spouse") and her two fairly sniveling children. She is the author of bodice ripper novels and the author moves deftly between Dulcie's fictional world of swashbuckling counts & damsels and her own sticky kitchen floor malaise. In one particularly blue mood, unable to find a sitter, she briefly considers planting the children up to their necks in the backyard as a solution to her problem. Sue Limb is a wickedly clever observer of the minutae that drives domestic life. Other titles in this series are More Bad Housekeeping & Dulcie Dishes the Dirt. Brillant!
