I was expecting the next novel in the Joe Pickett series and got this lame short story. I feel cheated out of $3. Shame on amazon for not disclosing to kindle users this is a short piece, and shame on Box for the castoff trash writing that doesn't even track with the series. Boooooooo! What a disappointment! The deception on amazon's part calls for a refund. Cavaet emptor, eh?

I am still wondering if the downloading was cut short. This is not a short story its not even a chapter.
I was not expecting a continuation of the usual Joe Pickett novels, I was expecting a story, not what seems to be a discarded few pages from a book. Amazon should have made this clear, not worth the money, but what there is is well written.

Absolutely agree that anyone who was hornswoggled into buying this has been cheated. Seems a bit of an anomaly for Amazon, but there may be more to the story, if they are willing to inform us.

CJ Box you should be ashamed that your name is on this book. Yes the writing is great and it involves Joe Pickett but to charge 2.99 for these few pages. Classic greed and fraud to the highest degree. I wish Amazon would have stated how many pages this book was and given more information. Do not spend a dime for this book you will not miss anything. I wanted to give this book no stars but it would not let me.

Perhaps it was sold unfinished; the last paragraph wasn't an ending, not even a cliff-hanger, it simply stopped. A literary (?) road to nowhere. I've liked, for light reading, Box's books, but I certainly won't pay for one again!

Unbelievable I was babysitting and I downloaded this I had heard he wrote a short story e-book but this is ridiculous!!! Took me 15 minutes to read this I was shocked when it ended I thought I didn't download the whole thing. What a rip off even if it is only $3 think of the money he will get with everyone purchasing this....Lost fan..

SHAME on us, the buyer's, for not noticing this "book" was only 63kb. $3.00 isn't a lot but I feel like it was bled out of me using a DULL KNIFE!!
SHAME on Amazon for not labeling this "BOOK" as a short story. Is that what an eSpecial is??
SHAME on C.J. Box for writing and selling something so unsatisfying.. take that dull knife, sharpen it up and write a "real" story..

I did complain to Amazon and they are crediting my account for purchase price..Kudos for that!!

As a very long time CJ Box fan I bought this short story. Anyone who is a true Box fan knows that this short story first came out in 2005, as a very limited edition.(As did The Master Falconer). Dull Knife is now out of print. If you can find a bookseller who has a copy it sells for $600-800.00. Thank you for making this short story an eSpcial.

Love C. J. Box and his Pickett series but this ebook short story was just a tad of a letdown. Seemed like a book that never got off the ground so he just shortened it into a short story. Not bad...but just lacking the depth of the others. Still worth the price but over with way too soon.
