Is This an Incomplete Soundtrack?,

I purchased this soundtrack because the film was so moving. Though the film's theme is similar to Born Free in some respects, it has enough originality that makes it enjoyable and worth viewing. We watched it as a family film and our children were taken by it, too. After my first listen to the soundtrack, though, I am disappointed because there is a cool tune that was in the film that appears to be deleted from this soundtrack, which was the impetus for my purchase of this CD. Also, there was a vocal song that sounded like it may have been a Peter Gabriel performance that appears to be missing from this soundtrack, which also inspired my purchasing the CD. I will listen to the soundtrack again to make certain I didn't overlook either tune. The first song was an upbeat song sung by a female in an African language that was really cool. I was surprised not to hear it on this disc. Perhaps only the songs written by the composers for the film score were cleared for this soundtrack, thus, omitting songs by various other artists. If this is the case, then I am dissatisfied.

Duma,

I love all of Carroll Ballards films, they make for great family viewing. The song that is missing from this soundtrack is by the Afro Celt Sound System and can be found on their album Vol 3: Further in Time ( and yes indeed that would be Peter G as featured vocalist).

"Kaboyi" missing from the soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Duma (Audio CD)
Several of the best songs are missing. I believe the one some of the other reviewers are looking for is the track named "Kaboyi" aka Woodpecker by Nana. The CD it's on is 'The Thula Project - An Album of South African Lullabies', which is very rare. I hope the Duma Soundtrack will eventually be re-released with ALL of the songs on it.

Why Do They Do Things Like This?,
By tacks31 (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Duma (Audio CD)
Some of the best music in the film is missing from this soundtrack. Since the studio already had obtained the rights to the songs for the film, one would think they would take the time to include them on the soundtrack. Like another reviewer, I recommend saving your pennies to obtain the best songs off of i-tunes or other cd's. Don't reward the people who issued this for abridging the soundtrack.

This soundtrack is wonderful. The music is uplifting and powerful. My daughter and I love listening to it whenever we feel a little down.

"When You're Falling",
By Amazon Ron (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Duma (Audio CD)
Just saw Duma and loved the soundtrack. Through some really heavy research, found "When You're Falling" on the iTunes website. Search the store under "Afro Celt" and just look up the song. That is the band Peter Gabriel did the duet with. Hope that helps a bit for the key missing song from the soundtrack. I agree with the others - can't figure out why the best song from the movie was missing.

Should have had all of the songs on the soundtrack,

I loved this film. The directing, story and cinematography were fantastic. I thought the soundtrack contributed to the effect of this film. I was suprised that certain songs were left off of the soundtrack such as "when you are falling" ( as mentioned by other reviewers) which I did find on Afro Celts Vol 3. There is another song that I did not find on the soundtrack. It is the song played while Duma is running at the end of the film just before the credits roll and the Peter Garbriel song begins. It's a haunting African song. If anyone knows what I am talking about or knows where I can find this song I would greatly appreciate it. The rest of the Soundtrack is good. It's enjoyable to listen to especially if you like African music.

duma missing best song,
By music mommy (NY, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Duma (Audio CD)
I agree with the other reviewers. We watched Duma as a family. My kids loved the African music so much that I was thrilled to find and buy the CD - then got a disappointing cinematic remix of fragments of the African music. And, missing the "best" tune - the one in a dotted rhythm, repeated notes, then a minor third up, down a semitone and back to the tonic note. Does anyone know who sang this and where to find it? we all loved it. I thought soundtracks actually included the music from the movie...shame on Warner Brothers.
