Dumb and Dumberer (DVD)

Customer Reviews

One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Derek G
I found it funny, but I also know this is not the type of movie I could watch over and over again like I do Dumb and Dumber.
S. M. Anderson
The story isn't great it but is still a very funny movie.

Some of the jokes were actually funny which surprised me. Olson portrays Llyod well. It's like seeing a young Carrey. It good have been better with such a comedic cast though.

To me, this is a very funny prequel to 'Dumb and Dumber' It shows how they meet. It actually shows that they were dumber in high school than they were in the original. Their dialogue and shenanigans are hilarious! I remember getting this movie for Christmas back in 2003. There was one part me and my friend talk about is when they see the "short bus" and they think it's for them because they are cool and the cool kids sit in the back of the bus, and every seat was in the back. Another part I love is when Harry goes to Jessica's house and everything he does is very funny! If you love comedy or Harry and Lloyd, then you'll love DUMB AND DUMBERER: WHEN HARRY MET LLOYD!!!

I guess with a title like Dumb and Dumberer I shouldn't have been surprised that the movie was DUMB and kept getting DUMBERER.
I know...? Der? What do you expect. That's what the movie is. Well... at least Dumb and Dumber had some execution. There was setup to the jokes. There was delivery. There was a method to the madness.
Dumb and Dumberer has none of that. There is only one way to describe this movie. One word. RETARDED.
There are two or three funny scenes and with proper execution would have been even funnier. Bob Saget's rant about his bathroom was a stomach hurter, and that's about it. The rest are ridiculous, in the tradition of JACKASS kind of jokes.
There's no story either. It's about... I... I don't remember what it's about. Something about a chest, a school mascot costume and a class for special people.
Okay... I've gotta say something good. The movies deplorable and a waste of time, but Rachel Nichols, who plays Jessica, is the only bright spot in the entire poop splattered mess. She's the movies object of lust and SHE'S the only reason to hit PLAY on your DVD. I hope she gets some more movie rolls because she's sharp and one of the sexiest things to happen to the silver screen in awhile.
Otherwise, walk away... no 'RUN'. No, in fact, go rent DUMB and DUMBER and watch it again. See how humor is supposed to be executed.

It is so amazing to me not so much that negative reviews were given for this movie but more so what was said in the negative reviews. Granted, this is not a five star movie but neither is the original Dumb & Dumber if you think about it. Alot of you who saw this movie probably trashed it because you started to watch it with a serious mind and if that's the case than you are probably destined to become a film critic. I'll admit, When Harry Met Lloyd is not the original Dumb & Dumber though it is NOT supposed to be taken seriously. Hence the title Dumb and DumberER! I'm willing to bet that if When Harry Met Lloyd came out before Dumb & Dumber that it would have been more successful than what it was. This movie like the one before it is supposed to be ridiculous. Sure, the original had lines that were funny enough to be quoted but so does this one if you watch it more than once. Now I'm also willing to bet that a good number of the negative reviews were written by those who are solely Jim Carrey fans and therefore already had a critical attitude of Dumb & Dumberer before even viewing it. Well I've got two things to say about that... #1. This movie is a Prequel. That means that it takes place before the orignal Dumb & Dumber. Neither Jim Carrey nor Jeff Daniels would have passed for the 18 year old versions of Harry and Lloyd. #2. Jim Carrey personally worked with Eric Christian Olsen to help him perfect the character of Lloyd. Whether you like this movie or not, you have to give the actors credit for accurately portraying Harry and Lloyd. If you rank Dumb & Dumberer as being a stupid movie than you also have to rank the original as being the same because that's what those movies were intended to be. Again, I favor the original to certain degree but that's probably becaue I've seen it so many times.Read more ›

Although it doesn;t have Jim Carey - it''s still a super funny movie. And it's great seeing how Harry and Lloyd meet for the first time. There's also Eugene Levy from American Pie who plays the principle. He's hilarious.

Granted, there's NO WAY this is better than the original Dumb and Dumber, which is a classic. But the amount of jokes in the sequel, and the fact I was actually laughing at most of them (obviously ignoring the really dumb ones) I have to admit, I liked it.

Trying to get a storyline out of something like this is really a waste of time. Don't even THINK about caring about any kind of logical story. You're probably not even supposed to care about that. You're supposed to laugh at the jokes, many of which are pretty stupid I admit, but I can't help but laugh when a good joke I happen to find funny appears.

The poo smeared all over the wall scene, the many scenes that involved the two guys constantly deciding whether girls are gross or whether it's cool to think about them naked, or the REALLY dumb scenes that involved the guys going to a store and getting a slurpy. The guy working at the store was the main thing that made these parts funny.

It's just a pretty good movie, but nothing spectacular.
