1.0 out of 5 stars True To Its Name - The Dumbest Movie I've Seen January 6, 2004
I cannot believe I even watched "Dumb and Dumberer." This ranks as one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The only redeeming moment in the entire film is seeing Bob Saget flip out-always good for a laugh. This is not a movie for those who loved the original film. It does not help one understand the original (as one reviewer commented). It is a waste of time.
Olsen and Richardson do a fair job at imitating Carrey and Stern, but they are more annoying, far too dumb, and have no motivation for most of their actions. I agree with the reviewer who comments that they simply play kids who are mentally retarded and cash in at the expense of those who actually are challenged.
I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Period.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dear Lord... you get what you pay for? January 5, 2004
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I guess with a title like Dumb and Dumberer I shouldn't have been surprised that the movie was DUMB and kept getting DUMBERER.
I know...? Der? What do you expect. That's what the movie is. Well... at least Dumb and Dumber had some execution. There was setup to the jokes. There was delivery. There was a method to the madness.
Dumb and Dumberer has none of that. There is only one way to describe this movie. One word. RETARDED.
There are two or three funny scenes and with proper execution would have been even funnier. Bob Saget's rant about his bathroom was a stomach hurter, and that's about it. The rest are ridiculous, in the tradition of JACKASS kind of jokes.
There's no story either. It's about... I... I don't remember what it's about. Something about a chest, a school mascot costume and a class for special people.
Okay... I've gotta say something good. The movies deplorable and a waste of time, but Rachel Nichols, who plays Jessica, is the only bright spot in the entire poop splattered mess. She's the movies object of lust and SHE'S the only reason to hit PLAY on your DVD. I hope she gets some more movie rolls because she's sharp and one of the sexiest things to happen to the silver screen in awhile.
Otherwise, walk away... no 'RUN'. No, in fact, go rent DUMB and DUMBER and watch it again. See how humor is supposed to be executed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dumb and Dumberer--the name fits the movie December 29, 2004
I can not believe that any mentally sane person would actually care about this movie or god-forbid sit through the mind-numbingly painful (...) they call the script. Yes, it's that bad. I was praying for the sweet release of death about half way through the movie, and by the end I remember my eyes and ears were almost bleeding because it was that bad. This movie should be called 'retard and retardeder' so the name would describe the movie's fans. Its official; Troy Miller (the director) *can* wreck a good movie. People who see this movie will instantly think that it and the original dumb and dumber were both stupid, when the original one was way better and is one of my ten favorite movies. Yeah, the actors might look like the older Harry and Lloyd, but I didn't notice that during the movie because I vaguely recall passing out from lack of intellectual stimulus in my brain. I admit I laughed at the movie. NOT!! The best part of the movie was when it was over. If the movie had one laugh in it at all, then that laugh would have died of loneliness. At 96 minutes, it was 96 minutes too long.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible and Horrible-er October 2, 2004
Terrible, terrible movie. A complete waste of eighty-eight minutes of my life; I want those minutes back! I rented this movie even though everyone told me it stunk and that I'd be wasting my money. But I thought, "It's about Harry and Lloyd. Honestly, how bad can it be?" So I rented this movie with an open mind. I knew it could never be as good as the first one, but that it would at least make an effort.

I came home, popped in the DVD, and the Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels look-alikes came up, breaking the fourth wall. I thought that was cute. Then the menu came up. I pushed the button that said "Don't push this button!" on the menu, against my better judgement, and the look-alikes walked up to the screen and, get this, BURPED. Right in my face! I guess I deserved that for pushing the button. So I was starting to regret renting this movie (and pushing that darn button; it scared me out of my wits!) and, reminding myself that it couldn't be so bad no matter what, I pressed play.

The look-alikes cartwheeled into the screen (for a moment, I was afraid they'd burp again) and then the movie began. I could go into the plot, but I have faint memories of it. I know the principal and the lunch-lady started a "Special Needs" class to steal $100,000 dollars. Then Harry and Lloyd gathered other "special" students and the lunch-lady became the teacher. That's all I know; it was so terrible that my brain had shut down completely to spare my sanity. The most unimportant scenes dragged on too long (especially that "you're it" scene; it lasted forever!); the ones that showed promise were too short (ie, Bob Saget scenes). It lacked everything that made the original great; that one was stupid, yes, but in such a way that it was sheer genius. This one was just stupid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pitiful Excuse for "Entertainment" February 16, 2004
Is it possible that movie quality in America can descend much lower? (Don't answer that question if you must reply in the affirmative.) Like most folks, I like a good laugh now and then but the problem with this comedy is that it is not funny. By not funny I mean it was boring, obnoxious, stupid and predictable. I found myself looking around in the theater at others who seemed relieved that the lights were so low their identities were hidden.
I mean, the forced laughter at the skits, the same old jokes, the same dumb tricks - it reminds me of my boys only when they were in sixth grade. I am not sure which actor did worst (or best, depending on your point of view). They were annoying in the extreme - even in the "funny" parts. One note: People almost flew out of their seats just before the credits rolled, probably for a breath of fresh air. Do not rent or buy this movie except for someone you don't like.

Good movie. This is nowhere near as good as Dumb and Dumber, but it is a relatively entertaining prequel. It doesn't have too much re-watch value. Read more

Not sure why they made this movie. Seems like they had nothing better to do. They tried making a movie based on one of the funniest movies and it was a total flop.
