It's Dumb and Dumber meets every bad teen movie ever made...not a union worth watching...Or Making. I question how big-screen successes like Eugene Levy, Bob Saget, and Shia LaBeouf wound up in this flop. Was the lunch lady, played by Cheri Oteri, meant to be that dim? Why would a song as awesome as Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" be in this film? So many questions...so few answers. Sadly, leading men Derek Richardson (Harry) and Eric Christian Olsen (Lloyd) actually do have some good chemistry, similar to that of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in the original film. But instead of allowing this to give us some fun new stories about this lovable duo and their crazy antics, this only helps to rehash pretty much every joke and most plot points from the original film...the only difference between this and similar disasters is that it's a prequel as opposed to a sequel. I barely chuckled at any point in this movie (I actually wrote this review while watching the film instead of writing it afterwards) and I could easily get those same chuckles just about anywhere else. Finally, I wonder why Rachel Nichols, playing the high school reporter Jessica, made any effort in her role...she could do so much better as she was actually somewhat interesting to watch here. This film cannot hold even an unlit candle to the original. I just hope the upcoming Dumb and Dumber 2 will be a lot better...a lot, lot, lot, lot better. Enjoy, though you might enjoy it more by not watching it.

Some of the jokes were actually funny which surprised me. Olson portrays Llyod well. It's like seeing a young Carrey. It good have been better with such a comedic cast though.

The good reviews for this movie has to be a joke. What an utter embarrassment. I will never consider this movie a classic. Harry having an invisible friend called Captain Rob!? Harry is a lot smarted than Lloyd was in the first movie and now he's dumber???? I hate how completely different directors and producers take a classic movie a butcher it's legacy with a piece of crap movie like this.

For those of you who are thinking of buying this movie because you like the original, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and the original producers and directors are working on an original Dumb & Dumber 2 that's coming out in 2014 some time. Save your money and go watch it. You'll be much happier, I promise.

There's a law being formulated that dictates that there's a certain 'best by' date for a movie sequel (and this isn't a sequel, of course)..........and it is way earlier than the 9 years here! No Carrey, no Daniels, always spelled doom for this project which is a shame because Richardson (as Harry) and, especially, Olsen (as Lloyd) are very good. A few chuckles scattered throughout but mostly this is a sorry excuse for a movie. Lame outtakes during the end credits merely emphasises the point. Lloyd's fantasy sequence was almost good, though!

Footnote : there's now an actual sequel with Carrey and Daniels in it!?!? Haven't had the pleasure but the 'law' may really get a test now!

I guess with a title like Dumb and Dumberer I shouldn't have been surprised that the movie was DUMB and kept getting DUMBERER.
I know...? Der? What do you expect. That's what the movie is. Well... at least Dumb and Dumber had some execution. There was setup to the jokes. There was delivery. There was a method to the madness.
Dumb and Dumberer has none of that. There is only one way to describe this movie. One word. RETARDED.
There are two or three funny scenes and with proper execution would have been even funnier. Bob Saget's rant about his bathroom was a stomach hurter, and that's about it. The rest are ridiculous, in the tradition of JACKASS kind of jokes.
There's no story either. It's about... I... I don't remember what it's about. Something about a chest, a school mascot costume and a class for special people.
Okay... I've gotta say something good. The movies deplorable and a waste of time, but Rachel Nichols, who plays Jessica, is the only bright spot in the entire poop splattered mess. She's the movies object of lust and SHE'S the only reason to hit PLAY on your DVD. I hope she gets some more movie rolls because she's sharp and one of the sexiest things to happen to the silver screen in awhile.
Otherwise, walk away... no 'RUN'. No, in fact, go rent DUMB and DUMBER and watch it again. See how humor is supposed to be executed.

Horrible movie. I only watched the first 1/2, after that I decided to stop wasting my life. It's just not the same without the original actors. Additionally, how is it that in this movie, Harry has a single, white mother, yet in the sequel, Harry has two Asian adoptive parents? Just curious.

This was a pitiful attempt to capitalize on a good property without putting much money into it except in procuring the name.
The Story of "how Harry met Lloyd" is only funny in very few spots, most notably the "Icee/slurpee scene." Actually, that's the ONLY part of the entire movie that I laughed at, while Dumb and Dumber is a work of grotesque comedy genuis on par with "The Jerk," or even something like "Caddyshack" or even "Animal House" (though it would be all of those movies, meeting the Farrelly Brothers, who brought such "tasteful" flicks as "Kingpen," "There's Something About Mary," and "Me, Myself and Irene").
This movie lacks the comedic genius of the the Farrelly brothers AND the comedy duo of Jim Carrey and Jeff Bridges, and it shows. The movie is slow and generally just not funny. Try watching just about anything else instead, and if you're looking for a great comedy, check out any of the above-mentioned movies, as they're ALL MUCH better than this one.
