good item - lots of specific instructions,

Had bought these for my brother in law and he liked them so I bought myself some. They are great but when they came there were all kinds of instructions with the oven mits. Seems like something that wouldn't need much instruction but...that is not the case. If you follow the instructions, they are fine. They do take a little getting used to because the "grip" is different from any other oven mit I have ever had. If you read and can follow instructions - you're set.

the first time we used them our hands did get burnt, plus the heat scorched the red side of the mitts. do not waste your money!

Don't get burned! (literally),
This review is from: Duncan 2-Piece Chefs Mitt (Kitchen)
My husband chose these because of how thin they were and he could feel what he was doing. The top of them melted when it was bumped against the oven rack and then the stitches melted and he burned himself while removing a hot pan from the oven.I contacted Duncan a few times over two weeks. In one, I stated that it was sad that it had been over a week and no response and that they must not care for their customers. They wrote back and said "I'm sorry if you feel like a week is too long to wait for a response." They then informed me that they were too busy working on a trade show to handle emails. I inquired about their advertised 5-year warranty. They told me I'd have to mail the mitts to their Canadian location and they would check if there was manufacturer defect - only if there was would they honor their warranty. They said it would not apply if we did not use them properly. (You use them to take hot things out of the oven and theoretically not get burned, we're not using them to monkey around inside a hot car engine!) Don't bother.

I have tried all kinds of oven mitts from silicon to the Ove Glove but always come back to these because they are long enough to cover my arm as I reach into the oven and flexible enough to really get a good grasp on a pan, etc.

These are well made kitchen or grill mitts which protect you from burning yourself, but also allow a lot of hand movement inside. They are even color coded for right/left hand. Great service.

Decent product when used along with common sense.,

I have been using these grips for over a year and I think they are fine. The colored (outer) side can get scorched so if you want these to look good forever then perhaps they aren't for you. However, they are quite functional as well as thin and easy to store. They offer adequate protection from heat as long as you have reasonable expectations; for example, you can't hold a 500 degree dish for 60 seconds.

Buy Duncan Euro Design Instead!,

I bought these on clearance at BB&B and will return them ASAP. I gave my husband instructions on proper use and warned him to be very careful not to touch the colored side to any hot surface or it would melt. After giving my lecture, I realized that the manufacturer should have put the colored fabric side to the inside and the black neoprene side to the outside. Oops! Well, it turns out that the manufacturer realized the same thing I did and now makes a Euro Design version that has black neoprene on the outside and the colored fabric side on the inside. Don't buy these. Spend the extra money and buy 1 or 2 of the Duncan Euro Design Chef's Mitt, Red instead!

Do not buy these!!!! It does not hold up to the heat. I burned my hands carrying my oven tray wearing these mitts. My mitts are burned from the heat in the oven and the stove.
