5.0 out of 5 stars Not your mother's oven mitts
I was a little hesitant that these would work, but I liked the colors and idea of an oven mitt that cleaned up since mine were badly stained from spills. These are not rated or advertised as oven mitts, but they work fine for handling Pyrex out of the oven. BEWARE-
Kitchen Grips 2pc. Chef's Set

Last week I purchased a pair of these 12" Kitchen Grips at my local Bed & Bath in the Pot Holders section. Shame on me for thinking these could be used in an oven like a potholder. It was not labled as Stovetop/Microwave ONLY product. The label indicates: Kitchen Grips 2pc. Chef's Set

These are not rated or advertised as oven mitts, but they work fine for handling Pyrex out of the oven. These are much thinner than regular oven mitts, but they work abut as well as an average mitt- not as well as heavy duty oven mitts.

On the plus side- when something spills on them, they easily rinse off. The colors are bright, they look different and high tech, and they are easy to use due to the thin material. On the down side they will burn (melt) just like conventional cloth oven mitts.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best mitts available!, January 9, 2005

I love the Kitchen Grips mitts/pads. I've had my set for a few years, and they still look brand new. You can handle very hot pans safely, and if something sloshes or spills onto the pads, they rinse off easily under the tap or swishing through the dish water. I've bought these as gifts for foodie friends and they love them too. Rave reviews from many who slave over a hot stove. LOL

These are the best oven mitts I've ever had. They provide excellent heat protection AND still allow you a GOOD grip. In fact the grip these give is one of the best features of all. I don't know how I lived without them. They're easy to wash off too should you accidently spill something or touch something with them. Hightly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grips!, January 29, 2007
After putting up with substandard cloth kitchen mitts for too long, we ordered the Kitchen Grips. They are the BEST grips ever. I can take anything out of the oven and not feel the heat on my hands. They clean up easily. I thought they were a bit expensive at first, but they are worth every penney. KB

BEWARE-
Kitchen Grips 2pc.

Chef's Set

When I went to take a pan out of the toaster over set at 350 the top corner side of the mitt brushed against the toaster pan and the material on the top side of the mitt instantly melted right to the pan with my hand inside. Luckily I pulled my hand out just before the material melted through to my skin or I would have been seriously burned. The pan still has the crusted melted material stuck to it.

I don't see a warning label indicated anywhere on the packaging that states DO NOT place the topside of the glove against heat or will cause burning or that this product is for use on handles and Microwave only.

I believe in order for this product to be safe in any kitchen setting the FLXaprene must be on both sides of the glove like in the Euro Design Stovetop/Microwave Over Mitt.

I think this is a dangerous product as it gives the appearance of a standard oven mitt and could be easily cause serious injury to teens or seniors in the kitchen. Be mindfull of this before you purchase this item.

These are great. They are flexible. Don't feel the heat. Washable. Wouldn't believe this material would work so well for its purpose. Love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duncan Oven Mitts, May 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love my Duncan mitts! I have been using the Duncan mitts for many years and have a set at home and in my RV. The improvement on the ones I just got is the stitching which tends to come apart on the older ones I had. I am sure I will be very happy with this improvement. I have had a set that has the grid on only one side and DO NOT recommend these, as they are not able to be worn on either hand and can burn if the non-grid side touches a hot element.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, April 16, 2009
These mitts did not last more than 6 months. It may seem like a novel idea to have oven mitts made of silicon, but the problem is that the seams ripped open, basically leaving gaping holes in the mitts. Before I realized there was a hole, I burned myself when taking a hot pan out of the oven. My traditional quilted oven mitts are much more beautiful, more effective, and last longer. Don't waste your money on these mitts!!

Sorry for the pun. But these are great. I got the Oxo Good Grip glove about a year ago, and every time I used it I grumbled under my breath. I hated it with a passion. These are far more flexible, so every time you pick something up, it doesn't feel as if you're going to drop it.
Easy to clean, protect from heat, grip well. It's not rocket science but it's been tough to find something that could do all three. These do.
