When I got the box I thought there was a mistake cause I envisioned the bucket to be much larger. I was worried about the space it would take. But it turns out to be quite small - about 5x6 inches. Construction seems OK it should hold up for quite a while. Opens and closes easily for cleaning. The only improvement to make is like another poster said put a stocking or netting over the vent holes to trap any stray lint.

If you have to vent into a bucket this is the way to go. Just put a knee high stocking around it to keep lint from flying out

Product is very simple, a bit fragile, but works very nicely. Well worth the low price. It helps to clean the device every two or three uses depending on the "fuzziness" of the items being dried. The hot humid air is discharged into the room where the drier is located. Not a problem for my situation but mught be problematic in confined spaces.

I have had trouble with a basement dryer vent. After catching on fire, I decided to buy this indoor dryer vent kit. Yes, it's inexpensive, and technically does what it's supposed to do... It's flimsy, allows moisture to saturate the wall and floor, but worst of all it allows lint to accumulate all over the room. I put a mesh bag around it to try to stop the lint from flying out, but it still escapes. Messy, flimsy and heading for a moldy disaster soon. Save your few dollars and invest in something with more filtering capabilities (if it's out there). I am looking.

The snapping mechanism that attaches the top to the base broke after one use. There are three clips to secure the top to the base and now one is gone. That said, the two remaining clips are sufficient to keep the top securely attached to the base. Works exactly as described.

Be prepared for the area (wall, counter, side of your dryer, laundry room air, floor) to be covered in the really fine lint that flies out of those little side vents. I rolled a sheet of plastic mesh to sit inside this thing, trying to keep the stuff from floating out and about. Still, that didn't work--I will try that knee-high nylon somebody else mentioned. I don't know why this "kit" does not include everything you need, since you will need some sort of filter to keep it from making a mess. If you are asthmatic, it could really screw you up.

There's just no good way to put a hole through my basement, cinderblock wall. This was the prefect solution. Fill it halfway with water, as the directions advise, and you get NO lint floating around the room. Change the water every few loads and you get NO lint floating EVER. Very affordable and works great!

This is not worth the $10.70 I paid for it. The hose is not the advertised 5'. It is 3'4". the rest of the product is a simple plastic tub for holding water. All held together with plastic ties. Save your $ and make one of these at home for a %90 discount.
Addition on 10/28/2010. After complaining directly to the company I was offered, and received, a replacement with the correct hose. The product works much better now. Rating revised to reflect superior service.

This is an inexpensive alternative to an expensive problem. I had a portable washer & dryer and needed a way to vent the dryer without drilling holes in the walls. This worked perfectly. Simply attach the hose to the dryer, fill the plastic tub with some water, and the dryer will vent right into the room without leaving dust and lint everywhere because the water traps it in the tub. Clean the tub between each use and you're good to go. This is definitely a great value and an ingenious way to solve a little problem that some of us have!
