Product Description

Grow the fastest-acting plant on the planet. The Resurrection Plant will transform from a dormant brown ball into a lush fern in a matter of hours. This plant can remain in its dormant stage for up to 50 years without water. Throughout history, these highly adaptive plants would dry up and blow in the wind until they came upon water. Then, they would rapidly open and drink the water until it was gone. This ancient plant will actually spring to life in less than one day.

This is a great little plant to take care of and looks pretty cool. I was a little skeptical at first, but the plant did almost exactly as the directions said it would. The box has the directions printed on the inside wall, which was not great, but what did I need the box for right? The contents were a transparent plastic bowl to hold the plant, a small bag of a bout three lava rocks, and the plant (in a bag as well). The directions were simple enough, rinse off everything (the bowl, rocks, and plant) and place the plant in the center of the bowl using the lava rocks as a support/decor.

In a few hours the plant came back to life with the outer leaves more a brown and the inner leaves a healthy sage green. I don't expect it to look like the cover picture on the box, but for a novelty item, this was definitely worth the $8.95 i paid for it.

If you let the plant dry for a couple hours and change the water once in a while, you can avoid things like mold and the "smell" that other reviews said that the plant had after a few days. Neat little plant and a wonderful way to teach and learn about plant vascular systems and the importance of water.

I would definitely recommend this product to a friend and would purchase another one, too.

The 2 plants that I bought are smaller than I expected. They opened up quickly but do not seem to be happy. They are partly green partly brown . After three weeks, some of the plant has yet to turn green from the dried brown/gray that they come as. Overall a disappointment.

You add water, it opens, it kind of seems to be alive, you get rid of the water it closes again. Smells terrible. The novelty wears off quickly.

So i got this for fun to bring up to college. I thought it would be neat to have and not the average living plant or animal that a student would have in the dorm room. It was great for about 3 days when on the 4 day it started to grow mold. Little white fluffs of mold started to appear on the green outstretched leaves or w/e they were of the plant. I threw it away immediately. Don't buy this, it will only last a week or less as it did for me.

This is a very interesting plant. My grandmother had one when I was a little girl. She would fascinate me with it when I would come to visit. It was magic to me. Demonstrates the importance of water to plants.

The plant was in a kit, with several lava rocks, and a clear plastic bowl, what a surprise! After I had added water in with the plant, it came back to life, and brought me another surprise! It had a smaller plant attached, YAY! The plant is doing wonderfully!

This plant is known by a variety of names, such as resurrection plant, dinosaur plant, and others. An important factor in buying these is that no company manufactures them. They are plants, so they make themselves. The biggest differences between one brand and another are what comes packaged with it, and the price. And just about all of them come with a plastic bowl and a few lava rocks. The bowl is about the quality of a disposable bowl from a food package.

The plants themselves are interesting. They can be kept for long periods without water, and when water is added, they will open up literally before your eyes. It might take a matter of minutes to start opening and it might take a while for it to open completely, or you might see individual branches spring open in a matter of seconds.

There are some who talk about planting these in soil rather than using the kit itself. But that sort of takes the novelty out of letting it curl back up and "resurrect" itself. And there are only so many times you can watch it resurrect before you will lose interest.

The packages always show something bright green, but the ones I have seen have always been more of a muddy brown. And that's true of plants distributed by different companies.

Ultimately, this might be suitable for somebody of the age where he/she expresses interest. It's cheap enough that you won't feel qualms about buying it for somebody who really wants one. If that person is ultimately a bit disappointed in it, chances are that that person would have been more disappointed by being denied the possibility of having one.

So don't expect anything great, expect something that can be educational with respect to expanding somebody's views about the diversity of nature, and unlike other things that people can tire of and leave in a state of neglect, this one can be brought back to life in the future.
