Book Description

May 31, 2006
Remember the good old days, when adventures were underground, NPCs were there to be killed, and the finale of every dungeon was the dragon on the 20th level? Those days are back. Dungeon Crawl Classics don't waste your time with long-winded speeches, weird campaign settings, or NPCs who aren't meant to be killed. Each adventure is 100% good, solid dungeon crawl, with the monsters you know, the traps you fear, and the secret doors you know are there somewhere.
Let the adventure begin! This compilation of twenty all-new 1st-level adventures is especially designed to kick-start new campaigns. Written by experienced adventure authors, these stand-alone modules will challenge your heroes with war-worms, hang-gliding kobolds, a hundred-foot-tall colossus, giant bees, an ancient wizard's tower, trained monkeys, dangerous mushrooms, a gigantic white salamander -- and more!
Features:
All-new cover art by legendary TSR artist Jim Roslof!
TWENTY adventures for 1st-level characters, every one of them suitable for kick-starting an entire campaign
A wide variety of plot hooks and unique encounters to spice up your game

I'm a long time Dungeon Master and write most of my own material due to the lack of long term or starter modules. When I first heard of "Goodman Games" I must say I was dumbfounded. Time & time again I've referred back to the `old-school' modules of those times past at my gaming table when I had a fresh batch of Players; this book brings back more than the nostalgia of the artwork, the whole presentation will make any veteran DM snicker more than once behind the DM screen (see also the DM screen; Dungeon Crawl Classics #39sold by Goodman Games). Ha'Zah - Goodman Games!

4.0 out of 5 stars Diverse Dungeons, February 10, 2007

I've been enjoying this book. I needed something for low-level characters to play, and this book fits the bill. There are a number of good, enjoyable, adventures in this collection.

They've also been helpful in getting ideas for my own adventures. These aren't just dungeon crawls, and some are quite creative.

4.0 out of 5 stars yep, it's good, June 22, 2009

What we have here is a collection of 20 or so first-level adventures that are generic enough to be stuck into just about any campaign setting, with a little creativity as the lube. But by "generic" I do not mean boring - there are some interesting ideas, some things you've never seen before. Since first-level adventures are often in short supply, it's useful to have a well of ideas that can be returned to repeatedly over years of gaming. This is a d20 product - useless for 4e, but could be used with Basic, 1e, 2e, and of course 3e and 3.5e.
