4.0 out of 5 stars Great Action RPG February 15, 2006
Edition:Collector's
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Like you have probably read here and on other sites... the initial release of Dungeon Lords was a joke. It was released in what can only be described as an early beta version. Features, spell, locations, and just about anything else you can think of were left out in an effort to release the game as soon as possible.

Now they have released the "Collector's Edition". A better name for this edition of the game would be the "Complete Edition", as that's what it really is.

The most important thing to keep in mind when purchasing Dungeon Lords is that you absolutely must NOT purchase the regular version of the game. They have patched it up to version 1.4, but it is still very incomplete.

But I completely recommend purchasing this, the Collector's Edition. Basically everything that the developer promised for the original game is in here... and it's a blast.

The game has a great character development system, allowing you to create a character that suits your playing style. This is done as you level up and choose new skills, and classes. It's really well done.

The action is great, with lots of monsters, fun battles, and good quests. This is the kind of game that you can sit down and play for a half-hour and have fun, or sit and play for 8 hours and have fun.

So, once again... if you're going to purchase Dungeon Lords make sure you get this version and not the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dungeon Lords: The True Story April 11, 2006
Edition:Collector's
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Yes, Dungeon Lords as initally released needed a few patches. Most games that are released need a few patches. However, even without a a single patch I found Dungeon Lords to be a graphically pleasing and fun game to play. With the 1.4 patch the game has become all that it was intened to be. If you bought the game when it was first released, patch it to 1.4. If you didn't buy the first release of the game buy the collector's edition. The graphics are awesome and the game play is fast. If you need to laboriously plot every move you make, then Dungeon Lords is not for you. There are a ton of gameplay and graphics options that you can tweak. The gameplay screen has been enhanced to show a compass and a dynamic map of your location. Lots of monsters, quests, and treasure chests. Please, stop bashing the game because of a poor inital release and start enjoying the game as it was intended to be. The collecter's tin is VERY nice too. I wish more games would be released in something so nice.

NEVER CRASHED or had the problems these other people speak of.I have a 1.6Ghz AMD Sempron, 768mb pc 2100 memory, and NVidea MX4000 AGP video card on both machines. If your hardware can keep up it works!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dungeon Lords( READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY OR AFTER) February 8, 2011
Edition:Collector's|Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Dungeon Lords is a classic R.R.G (Role Playing Game). It is a great game (Even in 2011);however, it is IMPORTANT to note, BEFORE YOU PLAY THE GAME , you must Right Click the Icon, then go to to compatibility mode and check the Box (Make sure it is on Windows XP Compatibility Mode)Also you must Make Sure It Runs AS Administrator. Windows Vista and 7 Block the game from accessing some Files, and you will get error codes, or glitches if you do not Run as Administrator.

Run As Administrator and the game works perfect ( it also works if you don't, but be warned of glitches)

Dungeon Lords is a Vast Game Filled with wonderful Lore and Magic. It is very easy to make a great Character and the game allows Cross Mixing of Classes. You can show off your character by playing Side by side your friends Online (I do it all the Time).

Storyline;is great, but almost absent if you do side Quests ( You kinda forget about it )

Graphics; are great ( If it where 2003) but the game play definitely makes up for it

Magic; Is awesome in this game

Dungeons and Dragons and Dungeon Lords have a LOT in common ( I am a Dungeon Master for a 4th Edition Game Group)

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs more work done!! July 6, 2008
Edition:Collector's
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Well the game is fun to play up until the point of trying to exit the first town. Note that I have done everything quest wise and upon exiting the west gate of fargrove the game crashes. I bought this version hoping it would not have any bugs like the first release. I am in Iraq right now and do not have internet access to download patches so I had my wife send me the collectors edition hoping it would solve my problem. It did not fix it. This game although fun to play has serious problems when it comes to crashes. I would have thought that this game being a collectors edition would have been near flawless in play. This game is truly a collectors edition for folks collecting unplayable games. It went right into my footlocker until I get home and can patch the game.

Let the truth be told that no matter what game you purchase these days, it's common place to have it patched. Now,as far as I'm concerned games should be patched before they even hit the store shelves, but we all know that kind of reasoning is just wishfull thinking. I've never purchased the 1st release of this game, so i can't comment on that matter ,but i can sympathize with those who have and can understand thier anger towards this product. I have to admit, it really takes alot of nerve to rip off such a large group of consumers with an unfinshed release of a product, turn around and then re-release it, slap a new title on it and expect people to buy it. Think about it though, as much as some of us are denying it(insert your favorite franchise here), this is not the only company to do this and rest assured, they won't be the last, it's becoming the "NORM". With that said, I am enjoying this game, it's fun. There are some very noticeable bugs in the game, but overall it is still playable, I have definitely played worse.I think the thing that keeps my intrest is the fact that the game forces you to earn your rewards(skill pts.ect..ect..) which is a formula that is going the way of the dinosaur in most(not all) of today's modern games. I want a game to challenge me..I don't want my hand held and nose pointed in a certain direction in order to complete a quest. Worse then that, i don't want to be given the option of carrying a shield just for looks and be able to complete the entire game with the attack button. This is where this game differs somewhat. If you don't learn to block against the goups of enemies that are thrown at you(monsters usually attack in groups of 4 or more), you'll find the ('R'KEY-Respawn) as being the most used key during each encounter.
