5.0 out of 5 stars Best pair of shoes I've ever owned.
When I started a job in October of 2004 at a law firm, I had to get some dress shoes. I visited a Topps Shoestore and upon talking with the clerk, he recommended this pair of shoes. For a guy that had worn dress shoes maybe 10 other times in his life, this was a godsend. I tried them on and like the feel. That's the best part about them, they LOOK like dress shoes,...

That's the best part about them, they LOOK like dress shoes, but they FEEL like sneakers. So I bought them.

Best shoe decision I've ever made.

I have worn this pair of shoes, 95% of my work days, from October 2004 until today, April of 2007. Yes, I've over-worn them. Yes, I should have gotten another pair long ago. But you wouldn't believe this was a pair of shoes that has been worn for easily 500+ workdays. Sure, the insides are very degraded. But on the outside, they don't look older than 6 months. Usually, if I were to wear some other shoe for this long, the walls would be wearing out. I had a pair of Vans I loved so much that I couldn't bear to throw them out. Even after you could started to see my socks through the sides. But these shoes have held strong and yet maintain that wonderful lived-in feeling.

Anyway, this review has gone on a little long, but I came here to see if I could buy another pair and was stoked to find them. Once I saw they had NO reviews, I just had to comment.

Do yourself a favor. If you need a good LOOOONG-lasting pair of super comfortable "dress shoes that feel like sneakers", put your money down on these. Worth every penny.

I wear these shoes every day to work, and I am on my feet quite a lot. They give me great support and keep my feet feeling comfortable all day. This is my second pair and will continue buying them until they are discontinued.

3.0 out of 5 stars tough but stiff, September 6, 2011

This review is from: Dunham Men's 8000 Waterproof Oxford (Apparel)
Bought this after reading so many good reviews. My first Dunham.

Like
-well built and tough. Leather looks like it will outlast the sole
-firm wide sole but not too hard
-good insole
-wide sizes available
-multiple purpose shoe - can use for office, street, parks, grass, gravel

Don't like
-leather is very stiff, not like Clarks. But my feet feels well protected like a work boot.
-not suitable for formal/dress-up, but Ok for business casual - looks a little like a work boot
-leather has no shine (unlike the pic) - like a work boot again
-feels hot after a day's wear. Leather is not very breathable

If you're looking for a tough shoe with lots of wear for a casual or semi formal occasion, this may suit.
But leather is way too stiff for my liking - just reminds me of a work boot.
Sole is great for all types of ground.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough & Dry, July 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son bikes & walks several miles a day. He's worn them for 7 months, 12-14 hours a day and comments that they still look brand new. He can walk miles in the rain even thru muddy puddles but his feet and socks stay dry. Biking in the rain isn't a problem either. He has arthritis in his knees and these shoes, along with orthotics help him continue his responsibilities in comfort. They are built to last, light wieght, and stylish, yet give the full support that is necessary. I especially like the ease that Amazon offers helping me send supplies to my sons in different areas of the world at a competitive price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and Light in Weight, January 30, 2011

I purchased these shoes a couple of months ago. After a hassle with the delivery, the shoes going to someone with my name in New York, they finally arrived. They are very comfortable and light in weight. As a Diabetic that has had one leg amputated, I wanted a pair of shoes that would be easy on my foot, wide enough for my foot and be comfortable and light in weight. This pair of shoes fits the bill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfort and durability, January 27, 2010
This review is from: Dunham Men's 8000 Waterproof Oxford (Apparel)
I've had these shoes for maybe 5 years, I came here wondering if you could still buy them. The soles are now pretty much worn out, but the leather still has a bunch of life left. I could put a coat of brown shoe polish on them and they would still look good. I have worn the shoes to work every day and also if dressed up on the weekend. They are so comfortable, never had a dress show this comfortable. The style isn't the best but good enough seeing you don't mind wearing them. I cannot say the same for my stylish, not so casual shoes. Great shoe!

4.0 out of 5 stars Much wider than other Dunhams, January 8, 2012
I have been getting 18 4E Dunhams for years, and these shoes are definitely much wider than the all of the others. The shoe is comfortable, but I am concerned that, over time, my foot might start sliding around too much when these get broken in more. It's not a great looking shoe, but if you've got big feet like me and just need some decent comfortable, black shoes and aren't concerned too much about style, then these shoes may be for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable Dunham, January 3, 2012
This review is from: Dunham Men's 8000 Waterproof Oxford (Apparel)
Due to atrophy of the muscles in my feet and lower legs from a spinal cord injury, I had to go to a podiatrist to get the right shoe. He recommended the Dunham line for stability, open toe box, support, and durability. Due to my irregular gate (walking style), my left foot 'bangs' on the ground and has a tendency to wear the heel out sooner than normal. This shoe is still in great shape (upper leather) and I would still be able to wear them if the left heel didn't get so much wear. I am ordering my 3rd pair of Dunham Men's 8000BR today and just swear by them. 5 years for a pair of shoes, for as hard as I wear them, is amazing!
