Back in the 1960s, the wah pedal was born. Those original pedals, which included the first CRYBABY, are among the most sought-after effects of all time. They had a unique voice that has been impossible to duplicate--until now. After more than 30 years, the holy grail of wah components, the Fasel inductor, is back. It helps the CRYBABY Classic deliver that vintage wah tone you're looking for.

A unique, vintage-voiced wah pedal. Click to enlarge.

Fasel inductors help recreate the classic wah sound.

Fasel Inductors
When you think about the classic wah-wah sounds of the 60s, you think about British bluesmen and psychedelic American rockers, not Italy. But those Sunshine-y and Foxey tones could not have existed without the Italian-made Fasel inductors that were in the first wah pedals--including the original Crybaby. These inductors were the key to the pedals' tone, but have been unavailable for years. Not anymore. Your Crybaby Classic with Fasel Inside will faithfully recreate the vocal sweep and lush harmonics from those timeless recordings. Plug in your Crybaby Classic and hear what you've been missing.

Solid Construction
The CRYBABY Classic features a heavy, die-cast construction, for a road-ready wah pedal that'll provide years of reliability.

Hot Potz Potentiometer
The CRYBABY Classic boasts a 100K ohm Hot Potz potentiometer, built to last and providing you with a quick, abrupt wah sound.

Powering Options
Power the CRYBABY Classic with a 9-volt battery, or grab an optional Dunlop ECB-003 AC Adapter for powering via outlet.

One-Year Warranty
Dunlop provides extra peace of mind by offering a one-year warranty from date of purchase.

Product Description

Dunlop Cry Baby Classics are so popular that in many circles, guitarists use the term "Crybaby" to describe wah pedals in general the way people use "Band-aid" and "Kleenex" for "bandage" and "tissue." There's a good reason for this. For the same reason you're not supposed to jump on the bed, wah pedals need to be able to take a ton of abuse.Dunlop Cry Baby Classic are built like a steel girder - from its frame down to its pots, this thing is built to withstand serious beatings. And the Cry Baby Classic's got the traditional Italian-made Fasel inductors that made the original wahs sound the way they did. So if you want vintage tone that your grandchildren can someday inherit, you want a Dunlop Cry Baby Classic!

I have used and reviewed a few pedals - ranging from the Buddah, to Dunlop's Crybaby line, not to mention the many others..

This Wah pedal is the absolute best out there, anywhere. The Italian man "Fasel Inductor" is the heart of the sound that comes from this rock-solid tank-like beast of a Wah pedal.

I play music ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Sabbath, BB King, and Zakk Wylde, etc.. And I now refuse to play music from any of those artists / bands without my Crybaby Classic. In fact, it'll be in my pedal arsenal right next to my PODxt, until the day I die.

The overall quality of this pedal is unmeasurable, and I simply can't say enough good things about it.

Buy this pedal - you won't be disappointed.

This wah pedal is amazing. The only reason I rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the description was incorrect. You cannot adjust the sound of the wah the way it says. The only tone adjustment, of course, is the wah effect itself, you can't "shape" the sound of the wah like the description says. However, it is still a good, solid pedal, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a wah pedal.

Its incredible how this pedal sounds with a Strat!, the bightness of single coils achieves a unique sound and power that I never seen before, I have a Original CryBaby GCB95 too but it does not sound like a fassel wah at all maybe because It seems to cut the clean sound of a Strat (but still this is a very good wah too), now I figure out why Jimmy Hendrix and Yngwie Malmsteen have used it along their career and they keep it using as a part of their amazing sound, I'm very happy with this pedal and I'll play it as long as I can live...

I don't like its crossover from low to high end as it produces these treble overshoots, which are annoying to the ear especially when combined with overdrive/distortion pedals. The low end just disappear in the mix, a better design would have kept the level of volume more or less the same on the low end as well...
Also because this is an SMD PCB (very tiny resistors/transistors/caps) if you want to mod this wha pedal any request for Dunlop to provide electronic scheme for mods, will not be answered, and I could not find mods for this F rev on the web

I was using a crybaby standard wah pedal I purchased from The Starving Musician that was about twenty years old; needless to say this couldn't handle the abuse of regular gigging and continually being stomped on, and started cutting out signal. I was reluctant to buy a Dunlop wah pedal again, but because I've had such great experiences with their MXR reissue line, I decided to invest in the Crybaby Classic as a replacement. All I can say is that I was more than satisfied.

This is one of the most pleasingly vocal wahs I've ever played, and the sweep feels just about right. The overall tone of this wah is very full and warm, not tinny like my old Crybaby standard. It's also great because if you don't like the sweep, then you can easily adjust it by detaching the gear connected to the potentiometer inside the housing. Furthermore, if you don't love the fasel inductor (though why wouldn't you, it's what gives this pedal it's great tone), you can easily swap it out for something like a Halo inductor if you own a soldering iron. There were complaints about the rest of the components being microcomponents, thus making mods near impossible, but this pedal is so nice sounding in the first place I don't think mods are at all necessary.

The other main complaint I've seen on Amazon is that the high end is too screechy and the low end is cut too much in respectively the forward and backward positions. This, in my opinion, is a criticism that shows these people simply don't like the sound of a wah pedal. Naturally, wah pedals will cut the low end a little bit and accentuate the very high frequencies. This, in my opinion, is part of the effect's distinct sound. If you don't like this, I'm sure you can tune your amp to boost the bass frequencies and cut the treble frequencies...

This is the classic crybaby sound! A very well made pedal with true bypass and the classic Fasel inductor. A favorite pedal of many great guitarists and a must have for me on my pedalboard. Give it a try...you will like it!

The classic and venerable wah pedal. Built well, great sound. A little noisy when recording. I would buy it again.
