Product Description

Hendrix was the master of fuzz, an artist with many subtle shadings at his command. His love affair with the legendary Fuzz Face pedal began in the early days of the Experience and continued to evolve throughout his brief but blazing career. The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969-70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face that Jimi used on classic albums like Band of Gypsys. Dunlop's engineering department examined hoards of vintage Fuzz Faces, honing in on a few units which possessed that unmistakable Jimi voodoo. The Hendrix Fuzz Face is built around the toneful BC108 silicon transistor. It is authentic in every detail, a handwired brown circuit board with no solder mask and circuitry carefully matched to the original specs. The look is 100% accurate too, that groovy circular chassis with tooled clones of the original Fuzz Face knobs in the rare and vintage turquoise hammertone finish. A truly playable collectable for any Hendrix or Fuzz Face fanatic. Power: Single 9 volt battery.

Mine is an older reissue one, maybe 6 or 7 years old. What is nice about these is they are consistent. Hendrix used to go thru all the Fuzz Faces at Mannys Music in New York and take home the "good" ones. Back in the later eighties Dunlop made some black Fuzz Face reissues and they were horrible. They tracked badly and I was concerned how these new ones would be. Well, I tried one out and it played great. Are these accurate? I have a genuine red Fuzz Face from the late sixties/ early seventies(bc 108 transistors)and while not totally identical they are close enough. The difference is my old one can overload an amp too much with it's output turned up too much while the reissue can be turned up all the way and the amp is fine. I tend to take my old one out more but the reissue got a lot of stage use when I did use it. I bought the reissue because my old one had a funky foot switch that needed repair. I sent it to Analogman and they fixed it up for me for $40.00 so the old one is back on stage. Fuzz Faces are a strange animal but, if you want the Jimi, Gilmour fuzz, it's right in this box. I love 'em. PS I only use these with Fender guitars as I think they glop up a Gibson too much. I think Hendrix should have left it off when he had on the black "V" IMO.

Heavy, Dirty and Clean at the same time.
I just love the way this little "pot cover" sounds, very close from hendrix style, mainly on bends and hammerofs.
i reccomend to use a strato guitar if you re trying to do hendrix.

I`ve always used overdrive pedals. I have 2 other fuzz but never have been a big user of fuzz box until now. It is always on. So cool!

I was hoping for this product to be awesome because I love the Jimi Hendrix sound...Everything was great except for the interference I got when I plugged it in. The oldie but goodie transistor made me hear neighbors radio, phone conversations thru my amp. Needless to say I sent it back and bought the Joe Bonamassa Fuzzface which is similar but with a Germanium transistor...

Nice pedal. Very Jimi-ish. However I changed the volume pot in mine to a 100k. It had a 470k stock.. The 100k lets more highs through and it tracks better now during fast solos.
