5.0 out of 5 stars Just Right -- if you're a strummer, March 12, 2006
This review is from: Dunlop Nylon Standard Pick Packs, .88mm/Gray (Electronics)
When I started out playing guitar, I strummed with my fingers. That didn't work out so well, what with the blood and all. Then I tried the standard Fender torties, medium gauge. I've got a pretty fierce attack, though, and they wore down too fast, sometimes even tore. I switched to heavies, then extra-heavies, but torties are slippery, and the extra thickness made them fly out of my hand too often (sometimes straight into the audience). And they still wore down.

Then a friend of mine (Mike? Mike Troutman? Are you out there?) lent me a Dunlop nylon standard .73mm. There was enough texture at the grip that I could hang onto the pick, but it was smooth enough on the playing surface that it didn't sound scratchy. It was too light for my taste, but I was hooked. I ran out and bought a fistful of the .88s. I've used them ever since. That's been almost 15 years now.

They're perfect. Not too stiff, not too bendy, just right. And they last forever (or at least until you lose them), because they don't wear down like plastic picks do. If your style runs to frenzied strumming the way mine does, you just might fall in love with this pick. Every time I meet someone who plays like me, they've got a pocket full of these things. No kidding. Same gauge and everything.

Okay, so it's a little weird that I'm rhapsodizing like this about a guitar pick, but seriously -- this is the perfect pick. If the three bears played guitar, Goldilocks would've dug Mama Bear's Dunlop Standard Nylon .88mm. Believe it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Dunlop Picks!, November 29, 2011

I love these picks! I have been using Dunlop picks for a long time now. They are much better than most other picks because most picks tend to crack very easily. The problem with all picks though, no matter if they are Dunlops or not, is that they tend to disappear very quickly. So that is why I purchased a whole bag of 72 picks. Currently, I am living on an island where things are very difficult to find and/or obtain. Hopefully, these picks can last me a lifetime. =)

4.0 out of 5 stars Used 'em for twenty years, October 29, 2010

Obviously I like these .88mm nylon picks very much. Here's my only problem. They must be Dunlop's most popular pick and that's why they made them medium gray. In twenty years I've probably bought more than 200 of them. They don't break, and I've never worn one out. So where are all of these 200 picks? They disappear because they blend in with everything from the sofa to the carpet. It's like they're intentionally camouflaged so Dunlop can sell tons of 'em. During a gig, if I drop one -- well, good luck finding it on the floor. Great picks though. I love 'em, and I hate 'em.
