Dunn's Sensory Profile is a much-needed addition to the clinical assessment of children. She provides the first quantitative, psychometrically sound measure in a field (Occupational Therapy)which has been predicated on individual observation. While qualitative observational data remain important in planning for individual children, it is also quite helpful to be able to describe where they fall relative to other children in their capacity to process various types of sensory input.
