On the political spectrum I consider myself an independent, right of center voter, like most Americans. I am not an ideologue. I look at every issue independently and make my decision. This book not only addresses the issues, but places them in context and reinforces the conclusions with thorough research. I'm in my second career as a teacher and I tell my students how important it is to back up what you say and write with credible research, as this book does. There are some things this administration does that I agree with, but many, many things it does I do not agree with. Mr. Bernstein has researched the "big ticket items" and lays out his arguments in a clear concise manner. You may agree or disagree, but if you want to have a working knowledge of the major issues of our times I strongly recommend this book.

I pride myself on having a long memory. This has been useful when talking with people who want to go along with whatever political narrative they've been told, regardless of whether or not it directly contradicts what was said just a few short months ago. However, it's just me and my memory against whoever I am talking to, and so it is hard to find the facts/reportage that corroborates what my memory tells me.

This book is an excellent resource, organized by subject, of all the important issues.

The Bernsteins have put in an incredible amount of research, and found literally thousands of smoking guns showing exactly who said what when, and why that makes them a hypocrite now. Not an easy task -- you'd have to be almost prescient to do this as the articles come out, and just a few months later, the articles are buried in the stacks of some library, and you'd have to know that the article exists before you can search for it. That is exactly what our congresscretins are counting on. Vain hope.

If you're conservative, you should buy this book to open the eyes of the people you have discussions with. If you count yourself a liberal, I, for one, would like to see some answers to the questions and issues posed. Bernstein is fair -- he holds conservatives accountable where he finds them in need of such, and he does not use oddball or questionable sources (e.g. Fox News is not useful in this regard due to the way liberals view it...). I have no problems with accountability -- there's too little of that in the DC swamp.

You will not be able to read this book without becoming angry. That's a very good thing. Too many times we as an entire nation have been played for fools, and this documents it. However, with this book, you will be able to do something about it -- namely, hold our politicians accountable for their actions. This book should be in every political science curriculum -- the anatomy of these scams is very informative about how politics is done currently.

My compliments to the authors -- we owe you a great debt.

This book is a gem!
If you only have the time and resources for one book - this is the one to read.
I read a lot and I haven't seen any book that covers as many important topics with such factual insight.
Whether you follow politics or not this book is a must read for every American.
The book is well sourced which is definitely an asset.
Written by a former Democrat, he exposes the lies, deceipt and harmful policies of the Democrat Party and how the mainstream media is more than willing to aid them.
In chapter after chapter, the book explains the issues and sets the record straight once and for all.
I found his writing style easy to read and understand.

I normally start a book and it finds its way to my bookcase with a marker 1/4 the way through. Duped America I could not put down. It covered just about every subject of interest for a conservative. Its brief but understandable style was excellent. I believe it should be required reading for every high school class in place of Gore's garbage. Very highly recommended. This is the first book I have commented on but felt compelled. TCB

Outstanding book. Solid logic backed up with painstaking research... look everything up yourself - it is all there.

Of course, I should be surprised that the lefties "reviewing" the book basically turn to the same ole' tricks the Dems have relied on for years (Namely lying, name calling, finger-pointing, et al.) to refute this book. If any of those that rated this less than four stars actually read the book, they would have found the COPIOUS footnotes at the end providing PROOF of what was being written.

Fortunately, anyone who has ACTUALLY read the book can come to their OWN conclusions based on their OWN research because the author PROVIDES this information to support his findings. (Unlike the democraps who just want you to believe and accept the leftist media and what they say at face value as the final word). In truth, All these naysayer's seem to be able to rely on is more pantywaisted arguments that show just how powerful the kool-aid really is and how long they've been drinking it.

As a registered independent, I will say this: don't get sucked into the bad reviews as they are, in my opinion, weak attempts to stop people from actually being provided the information necessary to make a competent, SELF-DIRECTED opinion on the matters discussed.

But don't take my word for it (like the libs would have you take their's)...Buy the book. Read the book. Check the facts. Decide for yourself.

This book is full of information about what is going on in this country that few people are aware of. The facts in this book are available if you took the time to research them as Bernstein has done. I have seen some of the facts in the main stream press, but not many. I'm sure a lot of people will scoff at the incidents depicted in this book, but the author has more then ample references to the sources of his information.

If you believe only half of what is revealed in this work about the direction this country is headed, then you should be deeply concerned about our future.

So far all the reviews are 1 or 5 stars; par for the course for political books.

I give it four stars: it's better than most in this genre. The writing is clear, fluid, and well paced. The book covers many topics in concise fashion. Where its real value lies is in the scrupulous use of footnotes. Every quote and allegation is carefully cited. So while you might disagree with the author's conclusions, he makes good arguments about how he arrived at them.

My only complaint about content is that the book takes very little time to start getting repetitive. As one example, Chapter 15 ("An Energy Policy--for Less Energy") begins with a discussion on the shortcomings of wind and solar as serious alternatives to fossil fuels. The chapter goes on to discuss fossil fuel policies. Fine. But then Chapter 16 ("The Answer, my Friends, Ain't Blowin' in the Wind") returns to wind and solar, repeating the beginning of the previous chapter. The logical thing to do would have been to combine these short chapters into one. Most of the 31 chapters could have been combined with others to make more comprehensive, less repetitive discussions; e.g., the first five chapters could have been a single chapter on national security and the war on terror.

I have a few small editorial complaints. First, the page presentation is mostly one-sentence paragraphs, much like a newspaper article. And rather than being set off with indentations, paragraphs are separated by vertical space. Maybe this is some new printing style, but I'm not too keen on it. My second gripe is how carbon dioxide is abbreviated CO², instead of subscripting the 2. While CO2 might be acceptable in a pinch, never would it be CO². While the author's discussion is reasonable, such obvious misformatting means that no one involved in the book knows much about science, and it could undermine the confidence instilled in a less sympathetic reader. After spending some fair space ripping Al Gore for his lack of science acumen, the author and publisher should have made darn sure that some one with at least a grasp of high school science reviewed the book before printing. Finally, there is no index. No book of this type should ever be published without an index--period.

But the writing is good, the facts are properly cited, and the conclusions are reasonable. Four stars.

This book is a must read to get the total facts about this President and his agenda.There is no hype.

Anyone who registers to vote should have to read this first before choosing a party affiliation.

I consider myself an Independent. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats over the years. In my opinion the author of Duped America has done extensive and painstaking research. We should all thank him for giving of his time and energy to try and inform his fellow Americans.
