Product Description

Color: Shimmering Green

Dupli Color has taken old school color , introduced it to new school technology and created Metal Specks, a retro look in a can. Metal Specks takes off where metal flakes of the past have left off. Dupli Color's technology in paints and coatings combined with hot "retro" colors create a look that jumps out at you. In the sunlight it shimmers with tiny floating metallic pieces suspended in color.

It's more a metallic color than true metalflake and the paint clogs the nozzle frequently despite constant shaking.
Paint squirts out in globs and drips.
looks nice though once it's sanded and cleared coated over.

I used this stuff to re-finish some parts on an old car, external and internal. The finish is smooth and gorgeous. If I had it to do over, I would've gotten some clear coat for the exterior parts for uv/weather protection, they've faded a little. No glop, no drip, fantastic.

The color you are painting on will definitely change the outcome. Light colors make it a dull shade. Silver or chrome really display the shimmering effect. Dark colors detract from the brilliance but still a beautiful color. I would purchase it again.

Using the blue to paint parts on my motorcycle. Have only sprayed my air cleaner cover. I haven't ran into a clogged nozzle or anything of the sort. I did a coat of white under and 3 coats of clear over. Looks real good!

This paint is difficult to apply correctly. It took me three tries on a motorcycle tank to get a good result. The nozzle tends to stick and glob. You should clean the tip regularly while spraying. Hint: if you do get a small glob, the best thing to do is simply apply more paint over it until the glob disappears. You need a thick enough coat to "wet" it but no so thick it runs. Once you have a good coat, it will polish to a beautiful glittery appearance. Warning: Like probably all spray paints, this one will dissolve in gasoline. I spayed a a spray can clear coat over it, but when some gas spilled it turned back into a soggy liquid state, running the finish. I think for something like a gas tank application, you'll need to have a professionally applied (or at least not spray can based) top coat to give it resistance to gas spills.

It's made in USA--Ohio actually. The color is amazing. The metal flakes give it more "metal" than other metallic paints. We used it to paint We used it to paint electrical switch plates and other objects in a navy blue room. The result is durable and looks like car paint.

The drawbacks are (1) the paint sputters out of the cans, so you should not hold the can directly above the object you're painting and (2) we could only spray about 1/2 of the paint out of the first can before it clogged.

The benefits are (1) the amazing color and (2) durability.

The nozzle was defective, and the top impossible to remove. But it can't be returned because it's a "hazardous" material (wonder how it could be shipped to me in the first place?)

I highly suggest Dupli-color paints... they are my GO-TO when ever I want to repaint anything. If you want your project to turn out well, you need two things: your choice of Dupli-color paint and TIME. If you try to rush a spray paint job, you will waste your time and money. Start with a good primer and make sure to wet sand it with 1000 grit paper. You want a nice smooth surface! Several light coats... don't drench your project with one coat. The metal specks looks fantastic! I've used the blue in the past... just purchased the green for my bicycle frame.

Sometimes the spray trigger gets clogged, just take the cap off, pour some paint thinner in the small circle in the center of the cap & let it sit for 10 minutes. Then tap the cap with the hole pointing down as to remove any possible debris. Wash/blow it out and you should be set.

ALSO- If your paint starts to drip... SHAKE YOUR CAN WELL! Like... when they say shake for 1 minute vigorously, they mean VIGOROUSLY. & don't forget to wear a glove so no paint gets on your hand (it's a pain to remove from skin / finger nails)

GOOD LUCK & hope this helped!
