5.0 out of 5 stars Nice addition to my LED flashlight "collection"
I don't know why, but I have a fascination with LED flashlights. I have no less than 10 of them of various types scattered around my house and in my truck.

Like any other person, I have my preferences... I prefer lights that have a "clicky" switch on either the tail or on the side of the body, not the the "twist to turn on/off" head or tail. I also like...

3.0 out of 5 stars High quality, but fatal flaw
The construction of this flashlight is the highest quality just like Duracell batteries. However, it is a two handed flashlight. I am having a hard time realizing that a well known company would make a flashlight that requires two hands to turn it on and off. It is possible to accomplish one-handed but very difficult and there is a high risk of dropping the flashlight...

I also like single LED lights rather than the multi-LED configurations. I like a light that can stand on its tail so I can use it in "candle" mode for hands free illumination, such as during a power outage or when I need both hands to do whatever it is that needs doing. I want it to use standard sized, readily available batteries, not some special size or type that costs a small fortune to replace and is hard to find. I'm not into all of the "fancy" modes that some lights offer, like multiple levels of output or blinking or Morse code. Just give me a light that turns on and off and I'm happy.

This light certainly meets nearly all of my criteria: Clicky tail switch, can stand on its tail, single LED, uses C batteries, and just is a click on/click off light. It is not too big, which is nice for people like my Mother and sister, who have smaller hands. Yet it is big enough so that you don't lose it down the couch or elsewhere. Well I suppose you could, but not as easily as the small AA and AAA flashlights I have. The "focusing" part that allows you to change the beam isn't terribly useful indoors, I haven't tried it outdoors to see if it would be beneficial in that scenario. Throws a good beam, but is not so bright as to be blinding.

I bought several to give as Christmas gifts, and everyone seemed pleased.

Overall, a nice, solid feeling, medium sized flashlight to keep on top of the fridge or some other handy place.

I was impressed with the quality of of flashlight and with its performance. It is an excellent product for the price. The 160 lumens was enough to illuminate each room like no other flashlight that I own or have ever owned. It is also easy to hold and is not heavy and replacement batteries are easy to find in about any store that sells batteries. Also, I received the flashlight very promptly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally LED's have arrived that are worth buying, March 3, 2010

bought one 2 try...bought more...we liked these so much my wife wanted me to replace our mag lights that we keep in the cars and in the house by the doors with these. they are very very bright and have great distance. A note that the adjustable beam is a gimmick but i did not knock it as the lights build, fit, feel, and overall performance is just so good...can't say enough. Finally LED's have arrived.

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Things to Re-Design in the Next Version of this Flashlight, October 20, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 160-Lumens, 4-Watt LED Flashlight with 2-C Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
This is a really nicely made high quality flashlight. It is very bright, without
a dark circle in the middle of the beam, but it has two design flaws:

1. There should be a switch on the side, making one-handed operation easier.
2. The head should be octagonal, or have at least one flat side, so that it doesn't
roll off a table or shelf

If these changes were made, it would be a perfect flashlight.

This light has a very nice fit and finish, as well as balance and weight to it. I'm a flashaholic; I have 13 lights from 12-900 lumens. It is nice that this light can stand up on its end, so if there was a power outage, one could use it in "candle mode" to light up a room or area. When one goes to lay it down horizontally, it rolls easily :-( My favorite thing about it is how it looks like a Duracell Battery! I liked it so much I got its little sibling, the 3AAA Daylite.

The construction of this flashlight is the highest quality just like Duracell batteries. However, it is a two handed flashlight. I am having a hard time realizing that a well known company would make a flashlight that requires two hands to turn it on and off. It is possible to accomplish one-handed but very difficult and there is a high risk of dropping the flashlight. When I am carrying a weapon, I don't have enough hands to turn on the light at the precise instant that is required.

So this unit is relegated to a duty where I have two hands free. I will have to continue using my Mag-Lites in the critical situations.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good flashlight, but not great!, January 17, 2011

This review is from: Duracell Daylite 160-Lumens, 4-Watt LED Flashlight with 2-C Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
Based on the solid 4 and 5 star reviews, i bought one of these not having previously seen one. I was expecting better performance than what this otherwise great light gave me. I'm a flashlight fiend, a sucker for every new flashlight that comes around, except for the high end types over $50. I have bought several different versions of the little 3 AAA 3 watt lights, and this duracell one does not perform as well as those little ones as far as range goes. It does have a nice focusing system, but it puts a lot of light into flood instead of using the light more effectively in a spot, when focused as a spot, which sacrifices the range.

The little light aaa 3 watt lights i can pick up for less than $10, which puts this one kinda pricey for what you get. The only advantage is the C cells giving extra time before needing a battery change. I think a person might be better off carrying three of the little ones, which cost about the same $ as one of these duracells.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duracell LED 2-C Flashlight, June 11, 2010
By

This review is from: Duracell Daylite 160-Lumens, 4-Watt LED Flashlight with 2-C Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
Purchased this Duracell LED flashlight because: it uses 2 easily available and inexpensive C-cell batteries, it has a sturdy aluminum body, it is rated as brighter than most common LED flashlights, it is advertised to have no center dark spot in the beam, and the beam can be adjusted. Overall, I am very pleased with the unit and its price. Pros: it performs as advertised, it is indeed bright enough for all my uses and can sit on its tail so that it lights a space well without no hands. Cons: The rear switch is new to me and slightly inconvenient but that's not a show stopper; it should have a built-in loop to attach a lanyard but doesn't; it should have some shape to it so that it wouldn't roll away when put down; and the beam focus should cover a greater range of variation. But it gets five stars anyway because it is an excellent functionality/price bundle.

5.0 out of 5 stars My dream flashlight is finally here, May 17, 2010

This review is from: Duracell Daylite 160-Lumens, 4-Watt LED Flashlight with 2-C Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
I have two Duracell Daylight flashlights. The 2C and the 2AA. The 2C looks just like a larger version of the 2AA design. Both are great in terms of brightness and handling etc. My only complaint is that the beam of the 2C has more light fall off as it gets near the outer edge of the light circle. The 2C is 160 lumens vs the 8o lumens of the 2AA version. The 2AA has a cleaner beam with less fall off. I recommend them both without reservation.

I have been looking for a real good small flashlight the really illuminates the area. I have looked at one that the police use and are quit expensive. When I saw this one on line I wasn't sure if it would work or not. But was really surprised and happy when I got it and used it for the first time. It was just what I was looking for and highly recommend it .Plus the batteries last much longer with the LED bulb. Thanks.
