5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE FLASHLIGHT sheds light on CHUPACABRA sighting from 21st Floor!!!, July 24, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
This tiny little flashlight is just ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!

I live on the 21st floor.
I'm a flashlight freak. Perhaps better put, I'm an earthquake or emergency-ready freak.
Albeit, a self-confessed freak.... I don't have 100 flashlights. I've, through time, narrowed my needs down to a few... the few that I can always count on, are high-quality, and are bright. But nothing has ever proven to be this bright.

Last night around 3 am, I heard what sounded like a godawful mixture of parrots & young child being attacked. I wrangled myself out of bed, went to balcony, looked down but couldn't see a thing... I then proceeded back to nightstand and grabbed my handy 'daylite' flashlite that I keep by the bed in case of 'whatever'. I once again made my way back to the balcony and shone the light down onto the houses on the street below.

First time I ever attempted this flashlight 'distance'.
I didn't expect much.
There ain't been a flashlight yet that I own that has ever given me the 'distance' (let alone brightness at that distance) that I was hoping for at that moment. But hey, worth a try I figured... just in case someone was getting attacked. Perhaps scare off that nasty attacker if even only with a light; it really was a bone-chilling sound.

LO & BEHOLD.... once I captured movement, I could see!!!!!
To reiterate.... I could see the roof of the house 21 floors below me where 'something was going on' with this utterly FANTASTIC flashlight!!!
I'm here today to buy another one of these puppies. They ABSOLUTELY rock!!!!

Now what I saw is still under question. Once the light hit the roof, what appeared to be 3 or 4 'larger-than-cat-more-coyote-or-fat-possum-size' creatures took off. And I mean scattered, and scattered fast. While from my distance-of-view, I couldn't actually call it a 'daylight scenario', it was definitely a lit scene. I'm still playing it over in my head cuz I know it wasn't dogs, and I know it wasn't cats.... I'm in the residential UCLA area.

I thought to self, "what else could they have been?"
Perhaps mountain lions? Nope, too far 'in-city'.
What else I thought?
A family of Sasquatch? Nope, they move too slow.
Then it hit me!
A gaggle of CHUPACABRAS!!
That's it!!!!
The only possiblity!
Wow! Goat suckers in my own backyard!!
Where's Josh Gates when you need him?

So while I'm here - I'm also gonna pick up the 160 lumens 'C battery' Daylite flashlight. Whatever I missed last night couldn't possibly be missed next time with the 160 lumens. Sadly, I just have to wait for the next time. But next time darnit - I'll have the proof!

BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT... you absolutely can't go wrong.
While I own many an 80 lumens headlamps, they can't and don't compare to the directional quality of this flashlight. They may be bright, but only for a close distance. Whereas this flashlight will behold the Lochness Monster from a distance; it will spot the leprechauns and elves of Ireland and Iceland!

This product really is 'a work of flashlight art'. I've yet to own anything like this prior... and soon shall own 2 more, and couldn't be happier about $$ spent.

Bring it on MonsterQuest, bring it on!!
Who's afraid of the dark now?

Brighter, truer quality of light that captures, focuses and projects more light. There are no black spots and the light is even, consistent across the entire focus range. It has a 3.1" zoom ratio. This flashlight is made of durable aluminum which makes it light and rustproof.Greatest flashlight ever and you will love it even though the price is higher than other flashlights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, February 11, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
I ordered this flashlight because it was in newspaper FAB or FLUB....the outcome was FAB. I love this flashlight because of its brightness but also because it uses regular AA batteries and not batteries that cost an arm and a leg. But I don't have the flashlight anymore - after 1 day my husband stole it from me and told me to order 4 more for our kids. Needless to say, we agree that it is FABULOUS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over big D lights, January 10, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
Ok I got this light and its great. It's almost as bright as my 4d mag-lite and it only runs on 3AAA batterys. It fits in the pocket to try that with your big D light. This is built really good to very good quality. Liked it so much I bought two.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest 80 Lumens in a great package, January 24, 2012

I have read a lot of reviews saying this light is so small. I guess it is a matter of perspective as I find its rather large compared to other lights I've bought lately but then most are single AA battery operated. Not all though as this Duracell light is bigger than the Nebo Redline S.O.S 220 Lumen light for example but in length only and not by a lot. They compare pretty well other than the fact that the Redline is much brighter, has better focus and broader control of the beam than this light. The Duracell has a very flimsy carriage for the batteries almost delicate looking compared to the Nebo carriage which also holds three AAA batteries much the same as this light does. Both appear well made and in my opinion Duracell could take some lessons on the beam control from Nebo. Then again the magnetic base on the Nebo is surprisingly useful also. Normally the Nebo would be the better buy for me and I do have one but this one was sold on a special deal for like six bucks each and I needed a gift for someone so I got three of them to use one and give away the other with a spare to boot.

My take on this light is that its a fine light well made and with an honest 80 Lumnen output. For what I paid I'm thrilled. For the normal price I am thinking you can do better. The only thing this light has over the Nebo Redline is a lanyard hole drilled into it to allow you to tie one if you like. The thing I dislike the most about this flashlight is that CHINA is impressed into the button where it can be readily seen plane as day! Anyway, it bothers me. Nice light though and it will impress anyone going from a Maglite to something like that ilk but if you've owned better lights like the JetBeam BA20 or the JetBeam PA10 among others by Fenix and 4sevens you may not think there is much worth writing home about here. However, with that said there are lights that don't put out as much as this Duracell light that are well liked such as the Streamlight Protac 1AA. I must say I also like this light better than my very narrow beam TerraLux Lightstar 100 so its not like its a worthless light. Just not really much different than the rest of the average lighting being sold. If you want to branch off into exceptional vs average I think you should avoid this one as it is likely to disappoint.

I bought 2-pack Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens LED Flashlights outside of amazon.com at $15 including shipping. The flashlights are very bright and materials are very solid. I am very happy with the product.

I bought the AA version of this flashlight and was so impressed with the brightness of the light that I then bought D & AAA version. I've had Maglites at my home and cars but wanted to convert over to LED to extend the life of the batteries. After doing some research on the replacement LED bulbs, it was much cheaper to just buy a new flashlight.

The Daylite are build very much like the Maglites. The only difference are the location of the on/off switch and the size of the lens barrel.

The light is extremely bright! I was amazed that LEDs can be so bright. The focus ring is smooth and the light is even without any dark spots. Overall, I'm very happy with the build quality and performance for this series.

My only hesitations would be the circuitry and how long it would last. I'm guessing and hoping that it's solid.

This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
This is one of the best flashlights I've ever used. It is super bright and has a great form factor. You get what you pay for (in the good sense), and you won't regret it with this reliable flashlight. Don't settle for less.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great flashlight, November 14, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
This is a very nice, compact flashlight! It produces an exceptionally bright, clean, wide, even light. The aluminum case looks and feels good to the touch. The switch on the end has a nice feel and is easy to use.

In a 2008 review, another reviewer wrote that the button is to recessed into the base to operate cop-style with one's thumb. This is not true in 2010. The button is recessed just enough to keep the end completely flat so you can easily stand the flashlight on it's end. This allows you to use it indoors as an emergency lamp, bouncing the beam off the ceiling. The button is easy to press cop-style with your thumb or index finger.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Keeper, September 9, 2010
This review is from: Duracell Daylite 80-Lumens, 3-Watt LED Flashlight with 3-AAA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
I've had this flashlight for about two months now. I am impressed with its quality, durability and brightness. I was reluctant to pay extra for a little-bitty flashlight, but now I am glad I did. You get what you pay for.

Now I am trying to get two more; one for the cabin and one for the husband! Duracell has always been dependable for me.

It gets one star less because it costs a little more. But I'm willing to pay for quality.
