Perfect example of planned obsolescense,

I really wanted to like this light- let me change that- I liked, no, I loved this light- WHEN IT WORKED. I am a plumber- this light is by far the best headlamp I've ever used. I just returned my 4th, and last, one. This is one of the most blatant examples of planned obsolescence I have ever seen- what the Hell is this world coming to when this is the way supposedly reputable companies do business!? This piece of junk WILL stop working after 1-3 months (or less!) of consistent use, not heavy use by any means, just regular once or twice a day for a couple minutes, use. The wire from above the lamp going back to the battery pack WILL stop working- you WILL have to wiggle it to get it to work, at first just a bit but quickly it will be pointless and infuriating to even try to use this device, and you WILL also think that you were ripped off. That's sure how I feel. This is 4- really, no exaggeration- 4 in a row that did THE EXACT SAME THING; you may fool me once, twice, three- maybe even 4 times in a row- but that's enough for this fool. Anyone else want to back me up on this? I'd like to hear the long-term report from some of the earlier reviewers please.
Take care, -Tim the Plumber

Duracell hit the nail with this one. it's powerful well focused and light weight light. It has a great distance for a LED headlight.

I use a headlamp daily working outside at night in the rain on tidelands with our Kumamoto oysters on Willapa Bay WA.
This is, by far, the best headlamp I've ever used!

Really great headlamp,

I am a general contractor and mostly do all my own work, so a decent headlamp has become a very important part of my equipment, especially when I am doing things like upgrading a customer's distribution panelboard (inside the house, no electricity for lighting). I have been through quite a few of them, I can assure you, and this is without a doubt the best one I have used to date. The lamp assembly itself is very durable machined aluminum and the light output is very good for a headlamp. All the elastic and hardware is also of high quality. For standing and working I think this headlamp would be hard to beat. It is, admittedly, heavier than many due in part to the aluminum housing and in part to it's 3-AA battery power source, but the quality of the elastic keeps this pretty comfortable for many uses. Really, the only place where a different style headlamp would be better is when lying down on my back, working overhead, like I do when plumbing sinks and the like. For that I use a really cheapo headlamp that has 3 AAAs in the light assembly itself. That work is close and doesn't require the sort of light that the Duracell unit puts out. I suspect using the duracell unit in that fashion is what led to the plumber who reviewed this light to complain about failure. The wire connection is indeed a weak point, not a problem for standing work but lying down, not so good. I hesitate to say what I paid for mine. I got it at Costco (all gone now) and could have bought two, or even three, for what some people are charging for this headlamp on line. I liked it so much that I went back the next week and bought another for a backup.

Well built and reasonably priced. It's very bright with rechargeable batteries. There is only one brightness (full), so I'm very curious how long a set of batteries will last.

I bought this for $25, and at the time of this writing, it's available for $20. Get it at that price. I think it's a cool light and it will do what I need it to do (I have to pull wire under the house soon) but I would have felt better if it had been $20. This is a very bright LED that tilts to three positions. It looks like they are: looking down at stuff while standing, looking straight ahead walking, and looking straight ahead crawling. I haven't tried the crawling position yet because I'm avoiding that, but the light seems like it will work for that. The focus is nice. It's not as adjustable as a mag lite but it's pretty good. I like that the batteries are separated from the lens to better distribute weight, and the fact that it takes AAs is nice. They could have easily chosen some expensive battery and I'm glad they didn't. I would recommend wearing this light over a hat or something because the back of it has some rubber for grip and it's not the best on the back of your head. Otherwise it's good. My dogs are confused and my fiancee says I look like a tool, which is usually high marks for geeky gear like this!

What a difference between a Maglite LED and the Duracell's LED lighting. I bought my headlamp from a local store just to try it out. The difference is like and day. The light is whiter and brighter than Maglite's. I'm so impressed, I'm going to replace my other outdated flashlights with Duracell's new LED flashlights.
