Customer Reviews

First: Very difficult to start.

When hit with a 500 watt load, the engine almost stalls and it takes about 5 seconds to recover and get up to operating voltage.

Overall it does what it claims on the packaging.

I got this to run an 8.5x20 car hauler converted to a prep kitchen when I only need a light load(pun intended).. like when its parked in the street and i just need lights and radio. Its rated at 1k watts with 1.2k surge.. and noise is supposedly 60 Db.

Heres what I found. I kept a voltmeter running while i tested the load. it puts out 115.8 - 116.4V steady, unless it gets hit with hard surge.

2 stroke engine.. 50:1 ratio... 30:1 for the first 50 hours.

Instruction booklet is broken English, but understandable.

it runs all the lights, TV, xbox, laptop, router, small fans and the radio fine. Thats what we would be doing out there during the winter. its an inverter generator so runs the electronics with minimal risk.

It has a fit trying to just startup the fan on the AC unit(no ac, just fan), but it does eventually fire up. I would probably wreck my fan motor if i did that to many times. The unit is a Coleman 13.5k Btu... again, i tried staring FAN ONLY and it struggled. All lights dimmed and voltage dropped to 50volts before it recovered.

Small Microwave is a no go.. wont even fire up. Small dorm room type microwave.

Its noise level is rated at 60 DB at 21 feet. Well, compared to my honda 3000, this seems a bit louder. It may be due to the higher pitch of the 2 stroke, but i dont think I would want to be next to this thing all night long. Again, thats not what I got it for... its to run a few lights while I use the trailer and dont want to drag it into the drive way for AC or pull out the honda. It weights 29 lbs.. honda weighs 145.

Ive been on the lookout for a honda2000 for a decent price for a while with no luck.. If i was able to get the honda 1000 for under $400, I'd probably have gone that route.

After weeks of research the conclusion was that no generator beat a Honda.....but at an average $900 price range it was out of my budget. I eventually found this Duracell. Which in my opinion cannot be beat for $244. Its quiet, starts very easy and runs everything I need in my truck camper. My tv DVD player, fan and all my lights at once. I might be able to run more just haven't had the need yet. But as most people buying a generator, I was very hesitant to buy anything other than Honda, but I am very happy I bought this generator.

We needed a small generator for camping, so the wife purchased the unit after a recommendation from a friend that picked one up at a Costco promotion.
It's light and easy to carry so it wasn't much of a hassle lugging it around. It's reasonably quiet for its size and didn't really bother us during use.
The start up was a little rough but the throttle response stabilized it after a minute.
Overall it does what it claims on the packaging. We used it with a coffee machine, a phone charger, a small radio and a laptop without issue. Customer service was helpful when I called with a question on the oil/fuel mix ratio.
It was a good purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good deal.

I purchased this generator to recharge deep cell 12v trolling batteries on a remote camping/fishing trip. The motor is as quiet and light as advertised. However, we found that the noise level varies due to random, unexplained surges. Under a constant load (actually a very small load, a single 13w flourescent bulb for playing cards and a small AA battery recharger) the motor often hunted for a happy RPM, surging up and down at random. We also had concerns about fuel use, which at least during the break-in period was higher than expected from the advertisements. Last, the break-in period requires a higher 30:1 blend that left a nice oil slick next to the unit after several hours of run time, and of course made it pretty smokey.

This is my second generator, my last one is a generac 1800watt unit which i dont have a lot of luck with for the past two years and I pay a whole lot more for it too.
I saw this unit for sale at costco last year, and my wife bought it for me to use as a secondary backup at home, i have a bigger 7000watt unit. Last week, I use it on a fishing trip on a lake, and after fueling it up with pre-mix fuel, start on the second pull. At first start the idle is running high, and lot of white smoke coming out from the exhaust. After a minute or two, it idle down nicely and the smoke is gone too. I was able to use it for a good 5 hours before I need to refill the fuel tank. it is not too loud, but it is very light, not too heavy for camping. Charge my phone, my ipad, laptop and a light without any problem. Great little generator for the price.

I purchased it for a camping trip. I did the break in instructions. The generator ran for 20 minutes then stopped. It has not started since. I called the number on the box for assistance after talking to them for a few minutes troubleshooting and still not starting I contacted the seller. Hoping to get a replacement. If I get a replacement and it works I will change my rating.
