Initial Impression--An Excellent Flashlight,

This review is from: Duracell Daylite Tough LED Flashlight with 4-AA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
I just received this, so there's no history. However, I do have some experience with (very cheap) LED flashlights which tend to flicker on and off. This flashlight, by contrast, seems to stay on, even when shaken. I bought it because it uses AA batteries, I liked the size and the price.
The entire thing is plastic and rubber. The housing around the light is hard plastic and the barrel is easy-to-grip rubber. The batteries fit into a four-battery holder that slides into the flashlight. The on-off button is on the side. There are no adjustments (no focusing, no different brightnesses). All-in-all, it appears to be a very serviceable, everyday flashlight with a price that doesn't break the bank.

This is an excellent choice for a flashlight if your needs is to illuminate a field of view typical for a room for when the lights go out. It is not capable of casting a beam for any great distance beyond 15'. The lens is not adjustable, so the beam is fixed and floods everything in front of it up to 15' with an even brilliant white light typical of a LED. It is nice in that the same package in an incandescent bulb will cause you to buy the heavier D or C battery. So this 4 AA battery setup weighs less, lasts longer and offers the same if not better performance.

I like this flashlight for the following reasons...
1. It's LED 2. Takes AA Batteries (I use rechargeables) with my La Crosse Technology BC-9009 AlphaPower Battery Charger 3. Nice rubber grip 4. Wide bright beam 5. Priced right! Overall a nice flashlight

First let me say that it gives me NO pleasure in writing the following negative review about a Duracell product. I feel that their batteries are the best of any `American brand'...hands-down. But this flashlight I'm reviewing is absolutely pathetic in terms of its light output. Judging by the (MANY) other flashlights I own, I would imagine that the lumen value of this 4AA Duracell is about 15 lumens. It's Ok for close-up work such as looking inside a dark cabinet. But beyond 5-7 feet, the light virtually `evaporates'. If you consider using this flashlight outdoors, such as for camping...don't! Now, I understand what they were trying to accomplish with their so called `new technology'...which is to provide a uniform lighting pattern such as that provided by a `multi-array LED' flashlight (for example, a 32 LED flashlight). But those types of flashlights are often problematic, as in many cases, a number of their LEDs will soon flicker and die-out. This Duracell `sort of' outputs the same type of uniform light-pattern-affect with just ONE LED. But the amount of light it outputs is feeble/weak/meager. Just last week I wrote a somewhat negative review of a spot-to-flood Rayovac flashlight which had a `ringy' effect in the flood position. But at least the spot was incredibly bright (rated at 120 lumens), and the reflected light from the Rayovac's `spot' would light up a large area, and it had good `range'. And that Rayovac was $3 cheaper than this Duracell. So, my apologies to Rayovac, and I'll likely go back and modify my Rayovac flashlight review. I guess that `American brand' products like Duracell feel that they don't have to try very hard because of their `name recognition' (although, as stamped on the Duracell flashlight body, the flashlight of course is made in the `big C'). They likely assume that anyone who doesn't know the other well-made flashlight brands (that mainly `collectors' of flashlights would know...or those who read the Amazon reviews), then they can get away with selling the American consumer an appalling product. Fortunately, there are sites like Amazon that let us consumers post reviews to warn others of such poorly designed products like this Duracell flashlight. [Follow-up: I likely shamed Duracell into pricing this unit at what it's worth...it went down (on Amazon) from $17 to $9 to $7.]

Great flashlight in a pinch,

I purchased this flashlight as an alternative to the aluminum bodied maglites that I've been using for many years. Like other reviewers have noted, this one is not adjustable but in a pinch it's preset focus works just fine. I like that it is lighter and it even has an attachment point at the end for a lanyard. It uses less energy than normal bulbs so mine has lasted for quite some time now without a battery change.

Great Little Flashlight for the Price!,
This review is from: Duracell Daylite Tough LED Flashlight with 4-AA Alkaline Batteries (Health and Beauty)
I'm very pleased with mine! I bought one of these from Walgreen's a couple of years ago when they sold for $10.00, each. After using it that night, I went back the next day to buy a couple more, and they were sold out. I wish I had bought more the first time! I keep it in the kitchen "catch-all" drawer and use it whenever and for whatever. I find that its perfectly suited at night outdoors, and it illuminates enough to see our dog 20+ feet out into the yard. I have had no problems with it, and the lack of focusing is not an issue with me - its handy and it works when I need it.

I was disappointed in this light, I have purchased all the other sizes of Duracell Daylight's, this one doesn't even compare to the metal ones. The light in not very bright, and feels very delicate. The regular Daylite's are great and I will purchase more, but this one was a let down.

Bright as the moonlight - however I gave it 4 stars because while it is a large circle of bright white light, it falls a little short on the distance end. all in all good for walking the dog on a moonless night. You won't be disappointed in the quality.

Uses AA batteries and it was inexpensive. Sister dropped it from the roof, like a 17 foot drop to the lawn, and is working like nothing happened. Light is bright and has a nice range too.Bought 2 more just because they can't be beat for the price I got them for. Shipping was really fast and I would recommend this product to anyone.

This is a sturdy, durable, bright short range flashlight. Great for a toolbox or by the back door, the light is bright but beam is non-adjustable. Wide beam but great white and fairly bright for being run off of AA batteries.
