Duracell Daylite Tough LED Headlamp with 2-2032 Alkaline Batteries

I'll admit it. I'm a flashaholic.

While I'm typically drawn to LED flashlights, I have had my share of headlamps, dating back to a huge Ray-O-Vac filament type that required a 6-volt lantern battery to be carried on a belt loop, and a long cord between the lamp and the battery. Needless to say, I've long been sold on the hands-free idea of headlamps, but am elated about newer technology.

Of the more contemporary LED type headlamps, I've purchased far too many in pursuit of the 'right one'. Of those, the most I've paid is $20~25, so I'm not exactly in the big leagues when it comes to dollars spent on headlamps. The fact is, most of the less expensive models were tried once, then abandoned, but the lessons learned from the bad purchase decisions remained!

The reason I opted for this headlamp is actually two-fold. First, while I have others that are satisfactory for the reasons purchased (work), they are all too bulky to have on me. Next, for those late-night trips to the trash/recycler or back yard, I found myself repeatedly using one of my smaller, always carried LED lights by holding it in my teeth when needing both hands.

Tonight, I spotted this one at Big Lots (and as P. lucchini indicated, for exactly $5.00), and figured for that price, I could "afford" yet another light.

My ownership is all of 2~3 hours at this point. However, I've aleady tried it in the yard, and as I hoped, it is small enough to stuff in my jacket or pants pocket, so perhaps I will be more inclined to use this instead of the between-the-teeth method.

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of coin-type batteries, but they certainly reduce the weight and size of a particular device. Besides, of the myriad of coin cells that are out there, the CR2032 might now be considered "common as dirt", therefore not hard to find, and not as pricey.

Other:
1. The plasti-rubber (sorry, made that up), that makes up the body of the lamp looks and feels like the same material as found on some sports watches; the off/on switch, although a different color, seems to be the same material. If so, just as with the watches, it could be problematic with extended wear during hot weather. In my case, the watch bands cause a type of skin rash due to perspiration;
2. The design is simple: 3 LED's, off/on switch, with no additional uber-magic involved;
3. According to the package, it would appear to be shock (drop) resistant;
4. The LED's are white, not blue-ish. The focus of the three LED's is good, ending in a nice, round hot spot, with little side spill. IOW, it is more spot than flood;
5. A tilt feature would be nice, especially for someone who needs to put light at the lower portion of their eyeglasses for close-up work. However, that would destroy the size and simple intent of the lamp.
6. There is also some downward, reflected glare through eyeglass lenses. I think I'll get past that objection quickly.
7. The lamp is comfortable. I just realized I've typed this review and forgot that I still have it on my head!

As Mr. Lucchini stated, I too am withholding a star based on the unknown battery run-time.

Aside: as I type this, I notice Amazon has 2 of these items remaining in stock, with no mention of more on the way. Plus, there were many other Duracell branded products at BL tonight. Perhaps they are in process of changing products, packaging or some other marketing strategy. I might need to make another trip tomorrow.

It's a great buy for the price. It's dark in the morning when we walk the dogs. My hubby would hold the flashlight behind me but it was still hard to see. Now I have my own light and can keep my hands in my pockets. The beam is not adjustable in any way, but the light is sufficient and it is also very light weight. I didn't want anything bulky. It uses two of those flat batteries. Haven't had the light that long so I can't tell you how long the batteries will last. I would buy it again.

I got one of these off amazon and I love it! I use it for night bike rides, hiking and getting a little extra light on little hard to reach home improvement projects. Looks like I paid 19 or $20 when they first came out so its great they have them for 15 now. I just ordered an extra one to have in the car, it comes with batteries and they last a long time. I love this thing!!!!
