I purchased this charger at a gas station during a road trip. I figured "Duracell" is a good name, It may not be the fastest or best charger available, but at least it should work reasonably well.

No, I walked out the of the store threw away the packaging (didn't need extra packaging littering the car) got in the car and drove away. We plugged it into the rear 12V accessory port of the car and plugged in my daughters iPod. A little while latter my daughter says her iPod died so I plugged it in the front 12V accessory port and noticed a short dimming of the dash lights. The thing wouldn't charge anything.

Turns out the thing blew the fuses in both the front and rear accessory recepticals. I should have known better than to plug it into the 2nd receptical, but I had just bought it and I was sure Duracell wouldn't make such a piece of junk that would blow fuses when plugged in.

Anyways, when I got back home, I tested it with a multimeter and sure enough the thing shorts out whenever you push the outer contacts in a slight amount (Same as it would when installed in the car).

I have sent an email to Proctor & Gamble. They replied with this:

"I'm sorry for the experience you've had with your charger. Unfortunately, all Duracell car chargers are licensed and sold to Battery Biz. Please contact Battery Biz at 1-800-842-2127 for further assistance."

I don't have the luxury of sitting and waiting for some 800 number to eventually deny my request for a new charger or a refund since "Battery Biz" has no website or email that I can find.

In the end I would not even recommend this product as a paper weight, its not very heavy.

I've purchased two of these: The first one starting shorting and blowing fuses. The second one got so hot that the plastic deteriorated and the charger just fell into pieces.

If someone has the wrong fuses in their car, this is going to cause a car fire - should be taken off the market.

Car 1: '05 Ford Focus. Didn't work. Quietly blew 20A power receptacle fuse
Car 2: '06 Saturn ION: Didn't work. Two hours of troubleshooting and fuse-picking later, it looks like it somehow permanently disabled the rear power outlet
Meanwhile: Went shopping for chargers, saw this on shelf, read reviews here, decided against it. Did not notice that I actually already owned one. Made gods of irony smile.
Car 3: '02 Dodge Caravan: Plugged charger in, radio turned off. Blew 20A radio/accessory fuse
Finally: Put two and two together. Realised that we'd been plugging in this thing every time someone needed a spare charger

Draw your own conclusions. Mine is that this object is a class-action-worthy piece of crap.

About 6 months ago I bought a Duracell 12V rechargeable flashlight that failed 1 week after buying. I did not keep packaging or receipt as I did not expect a Duracell product to fail so quick. I hesitated buying this adapter but thought Duracell is a good brand surely this cannot fail too.... 3 weeks and it blew the fuse!!!! I am done with Duracell products even batteries!!!

I changed the rating only because the merchandise worked as it was needed for, was ordered for my mother, and she has no complaints. The only issue that I have is the package was so very poorly and it should have been secured and packaged better than I had received it anyone could have removed my item that I paid for.

I bought this at a regular store but while searching for a new charger ran up on this one. Let me help you out, people. Move on! Keep looking! I hadn't had this charger very long when it stopped working. Lo and behold, the tip end of it has come apart and is now stuck in my car outlet. This means that not only does it not work like others said, but I have to figure out how to get the end out of my outlet without electrocuting myself. Meanwhile, I can't use the outlet and unfortunately, it's the only one my car has. Contacting Duracell does not good, nor does posting on their Facebook page. All you get is some sappy canned answer. This charger is a gamble you don't want to take.

Purchased to replace a lost USB cable for my phone. I had thrown away the additional connectors so I can not return. The problem wiht this is the connection between the main cable(std USB) - and the individual connectors ( it comes with a choice of 3 Mini/micro and I-pad types). The connection between the two uses a basic 2.5 mm stereo type jack - which the tip broke off w/in 3 weeks of purchase - no connection so this will not charge anything.
