Just hook this up via USB to your computer overnight and then toss it in your travel bag, purse, backpack, whatever. It charges up your phone, MP3 player, etc., in about the same amount of time it takes to charge them via your traditional power source. The unit does what it was built to do.

Keep in mind this product is for certain situations where normal access to powering methods aren't an option (camping, long trips, etc.). This isn't a unit that will recharge your phone in a few seconds if you forgot to charge it and your phone has died while you are, say, grocery shopping. Because your phone will still have to charge awhile. Plus, the unit isn't necessarily cheap. So for most folks, this product isn't necessary.

But if you're someone who has found yourself away from traditional power sources for a while -- and you'll know who you are -- this battery will be a Godsend. (There's also a larger, more-expensive version available: Duracell Powermat GoPower Longhaul backup battery, power bank, for iPhone 5S/5C/5, Samsung Galaxy S4, other smartphones and tablets.)

I'm going to make this easy:

If you want to combine this with a Duracell Powermat because you want to charge your devices without wires when you're on the go, this is a great choice I suppose.

BUT, if you are thinking of buying this to recharge your devices (and don't "need" wireless charging capabilities), there are a seemingly endless supply of competitors with products that do the same thing, with more power, for less.

Seems a good, solid backup battery. It works with the Duracell Powermat charging system, although you need to buy a Powermat separately. It's good to have an extra battery for those days when one charge isn't enough. The only trouble is that those days are rare for me, and it seems like when they do come around, I've forgotten to pack the backup battery. So I need to hunt for a way to charge my phone anyway.

This is a basic wireless battery charger that uses the old method of induction. If you have the `Powermat', just slip your iPhone onto that and start charging. The copper colored tab starts the instant charging. It's about the same as a wired charge in time. The advantage is you don't have to mess with wires.

You can also charge with a 30-pin/USB cable (not included) form a PC or an electrical outlet if you have the Apple plug adapter. One of the disadvantages of this is that is not a powerful battery. It will charge your iPhone about two times. It has about 4400 mAh in power, which is not a lot when you consider that for less than half the price you can get a (wired) battery charger with about 12,000 mAh.

The battery has four white light LED's set on the top to let you know if you have 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of a charge. In the copper plate you have a micro input for charging and a USB output for charging at a 2.1A rate. Pressing the copper plate also allows you to view the four LED's for power viewing.

The size is a little larger in thickness than an iPhone and about the same size otherwise. It's convenient not to have wires, but the amount of power, or lack of, is also a consideration. Also, the device is able to charge anything if it is plugged in and being charged. Considering the very high price, I would shop around for a more powerful battery.

Charged quickly and easily using the enclosed USB cable. A little heavy, but not at all a deterrent for bringing it along. Worked for keeping my cellphone going when I needed it! I tried the long haul one as well, both met my needs, I did not notice too much of a difference between their charge

This review is for the GoPower Overnighter backup battery/charger only and not the entire Duracell Powermat Wireless Charging Collection. The Overnighter works with the wireless system; but it also works on its own using the supplied USB to micro USB cabler. The charger has ports for both USB and micro USB connections; so you can plug in different types of devices, such as iPads or iPad minis, (what I have) and charge away using the appropriate port on the Overnighter.

To charge your device, after connecting it to the Overnighter press a bronze button on the Overnighter. That's it. When your Overnighter needs charging, you can plug it into a computer's USB port. If you have a PowerMat or TravelMat, you lay the Overnighter on it, and it charges wirelessly. If you have a large PowerMat, your can change multiple compatible devices simultaneously. This would be ideal for the Road Warrior who is dependent on multiple mobile devices (or doing business in a local Starbucks.) By pressing the bronze button that initiates charging, you can tell how much juice your Overnighter has by looking at 4 LED lights. When all 4 are lit up, the charger is fully charged. It's capacity is 4400 mAh and the output is 5VDC1A/2.1A. WH=16.7.

So this little gem goes into my device case along with my VGA connector for overheads, wall chargers and other traveling gizmos.

I've been needing a portable charger for a long time. I chose this one because I wanted something really portable for charging on the go.

This is a very well built, solid charger. It's heavy, as it should be. It has 1 regular USB port, and one micro USB (to charge the charger). This does NOT come with a wall charger - you need to supply your own. It comes with a micro USB to regular USB cable, but you need an outlet that has a USB adapter in order to plug it in.

It takes a while to charge (6+ hours). That's fine, as I charge it overnight.

It has a button on it, with 4 lights. The amount of lights lit up tell you how much juice is left.

I get about 2 full charges for my HTC One phone, or about 1 charge to my tablet. I like the power button - very easy to use.

This works with Duracell's wireless charging system. I don't own any of their wireless charging pads (very expensive), but if you own that stuff, this is handy. I can't imagine how many people hate cables so much they'd shell out $100+ for a wireless charging mat, but to each his own.

My only real complaint is how crazy expensive this product is! It's a 4400 mAh battery. You can get a 10,000 mAh battery charger Anker® Astro 3E 10000mAh Dual USB Backup External Battery Pack Portable Power Pack Charger for most Smartphones, Tablets and other USB-charged devices (Apple Adapters- 30 pin and Lightning, NOT Included) for $40. It has more than double the capacity and is 1/2 the price.
