6 firelogs for 51 dollars? You've got to be kidding me!Why anyone would accept this pricepoint is beyond me. This is very clearly unreasonable.

Burns Great.... But Where is the Color?,

This review is from: Duraflame 00647 Colorlog Firelog 6 Pack
I really like Duraflame logs, so much so that we don't even bother with real wood fires anymore-- it's just not worth the hassle. Of course it's not exactly the same, and you don't get as much heat... But the effect, convenience and price make up for it. I can have a nice full fire burning all night for around $2 and don't have to deal with the wood delivery, storage, splitting anymore. The only reason I'm lowering the score is the Duraflame Colorlogs just don't have the promised effect. They work and burn just fine, but the colored flames are barely noticeable. To my eye, its just the same orange flame, with only a sliver of blue or purple here and there around the edges. I would recommend using the normal 4 hour duraflame logs because they last longer-- at least 3.5 hours on average. I usually cut the logs in half and use a small amount of starter gel to get them burning faster. The smaller logs still give the same flame height and full burn time--at half the price. I also stick the logs in the middle of a gas-style 'concrete log set' and it looks very similar like a wood fire. We've had more than a few guests surprised that it wasn't.

Good, but not great,

I'll have to say upfront that at the fifty dollar price tag here, you could probably get this far cheaper elsewhere. I know that I picked my logs up at a local grocer for half the price. In any case, on with the actual review.I've long seen these at my local stores and the idea of a color changing log sounded really fun and I felt that it could be handy to have around. (Come on, who hasn't had their bigger wood pile rained on at some point in time, making for a long arduous task of drying the wood out?) As far as its long lasting properties go, this log does last a long time and does a good job of helping to get the fire going. However, when it comes to the color changing parts, it's not as great. The log might light up quickly, but it takes an incredibly long time to actually start changing colors. Even then, it was only tiny little flickers of green. It took about 1-2 hours for the colors to really start coming out and even then it was still muted in relation to the far bigger normal flames. I wasn't expecting huge blasts of color flames to begin with, but this was just disappointing. What colors does it have? Well, there's a little bit of blue and green in the fire, but that's about it. If you're hoping for an explosion of colors then you're going to be sorely disappointed. If you're content with flickers of green and blue, then go ahead and buy this. Since the price point for the color logs isn't any different than the price for the regular Duraflame logs, I'll probably buy this again. It's a handy thing to have around and it will undoubtedly be useful in helping start fires with partially damp wood. But as a purely aesthetic thing? Nah. Not worth the money. There appears to be other things you can purchase that will change your fire into different colors, so if all you're looking for are pretty colors, you'd probably want to look elsewhere.
