4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book about the early days of Duran Duran
Toby Goldstein's book about Duran Duran, published in 1984, is a fun, light read about the history and formation of the band up until before the release of "Wild Boys". It includes sixteen glossy black & white pages of photos of the band, smack-dab in the middle of the text. Its appendices are also great to read for info about the group circa 1984. Some...

3.0 out of 5 stars Durandemonium!
This latest book review begs the question: Why did I just read that? I am a student of literature, I like to think of myself, pretentiously at times, so why would I spend any minutes of my life reading a teen bio on popsters Duran Duran (by Toby Goldstein)?:

This is a short biography of Duran Duran, one of my favourite musical acts. Goldstein herself...

Some of the info is incorrect (e.g., John's nickname is stated as being "Trigger" instead of the proper "Tigger"), and some of the info is no longer valid, but it makes for easy reading. And when you're a Duran Duran fan trying to escape the coldness and complexity of the real world, what better a thing to reach for?

This latest book review begs the question: Why did I just read that? I am a student of literature, I like to think of myself, pretentiously at times, so why would I spend any minutes of my life reading a teen bio on popsters Duran Duran (by Toby Goldstein)?:

This is a short biography of Duran Duran, one of my favourite musical acts. Goldstein herself interviewed the band for Creem magazine in 1982. This bio dates from 1984, and it was published just before the group released their "Wild Boys" single and the live Arena album. For a teen bio, this was well researched and devoid of fluff, and, most thankfully, devoid of superfluous exclamation marks which often plague youth nonfiction. I was taken down memory lane as I recalled Duran events from 28 years ago.
