WHAT IS BEE PROPOLIS? Propolis is a substance made by the honeybee that provides protection against harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi. Propolis is plant resin collected by bees for use in and around the hive. In plants it is usually the sticky coating around buds that serves to protect them from the elements of weather plus from attack by bacteria, fungi, molds, and viruses. These are properties that are useful to the bees and are enhanced by the sticky properties of the propolis beeglue. Like pollen, propolis beeglue is a bee product that cannot be clearly defined and varies from sample to sample. This is a natural outcome of the collection process. Propolis collecting bees will use resins from a large variety of tree and other plant species, and these naturally will differ in their qualitative and quantitative chemical composition. Nevertheless, different bee propolis extract samples do share considerable similarity in their physical and overall general chemical nature. Hundreds of chemical compounds have been identified from bee propolis extract. The main chemical classes present in propolis are flavonoids, phenolics, and various aromatic compounds. Bee propolis extract also contains some volatile oils, terpenes, and beeswax, but these compounds are not believed to contribute as significantly to the chemical properties and effects of propolis. Flavonoids are well-known plant compounds that have antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Other properties of propolis beeglue include acting as a local anesthetic, reducing spasms, healing gastric ulcers, and strengthening capillaries. HOW MUCH PROPOLIS DO I TAKE? The FDA has not determined any guidelines for taking bee propolis products. It is generally recommended that you take from 1 to 3 (250mg) capsules daily as a dietary supplement.

I've been using Durham's Bee Propolis for several years since I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2007. Went to China, and tried their freshly packed liquid Propolis but found it hard to get in the States. Found Durhams and the quality surpasses the High end Capsules from Beijing. Always fresh, it has enhanced my immune system so greatly that it has reduced dramatically the mucositus caused by radiation therapy. The Canker Rid also aided in healing mouth sores caused by Radiation and Chemo.
Can't say enough about Tim and his products.

I've been using bee pollen & propolis for well over 30 years now. I've been using Tim's products for somewhere between 10 - 15 years. What I enjoy most about Tim's products is they are fresh. Theses days most of the commercial bee products come from another country and may have sat in a warehouse for years before being purchased in bulk by a company that packages this old stuff and sells it to retailers where it will sit some more on a shelf until someone buys it..
Not so with Tim's products! Everything Tim sells comes fresh off the farm to you.

About 12 months ago, my brother (I have 4), especially two of them, told me about Bee Propolis and how it has natural antiviral, antibacterial properties, as I get sick very often with Bronchitis and bad coughs because I have some severe allergies with dust mites, mold/mildew, and cats and dogs (& everyone I know has a dog/cat!). To inform you a bit of my background, I have had a severe dust mites allergy along with mold/mildew, cats and dogs allergies since 2002. I am now 59 years old. I was sceptical at first as I am always with some natural items since I'm not so sure it will really help. Well, I started to take it, just one pill per day, then last fall I started to take three pills per day as the impending winter was coming upon us. It seems strange but it's a gradual thing that has happened to me. My energy is up a bit and I can accomplish a lot more than before. When I do get sick, it's not as bad as before. In general, when I feel as though I am about to get sick with a cold, I'll also take three more pills before I retire and the next morning I feel great! Well, I will continue to take Bee Propolis and maybe through time my allergies will not be as bad. One more thing....I have always had an orange allergy....can't have orange juice without a rash happening. Two weeks ago, I finally tried 4 ozs each day for a few days and I didn't get a rash! I still don't overdose on oranges but, maybe the Bee Propolis has been helping.
