The authors (Kasetsart University, Thailand) review the fruit's history, areas of production, phenological development, techniques for propagation and pruning, orchard pests, post-harvest technology, products made from the fruit, and its marketing in various countries. Very informative book for the grower or real officionado. However the price is very steep for its size and number or pages. You would have to rate this book on quality and not quantity although more could have been made of it. Growing areas including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore are covered. Statistics go up to 1996 but mainly up to 1992. The number of coloured photos is limited to eight pages at the back only. My feeling is that there should have been many more images through out the book. It is written in a very academic way much like a University thesis. If you are not interested in maps, charts and tables then this is not the book for you. I give it a three rating only because of the information content which I found useful. But it is lacking in other aspects.
