5.0 out of 5 stars all the difference in the world
I have severe acid reflux, and, even with prescription and OTC medicines, I was still waking up almost every night of the week with miserable, choking acid symptoms.

The first night I got this was the first full night of sleep I'd had in ages. And, ever since getting this pillow two-plus months ago, I have had not one single night of acid-awakening. Not one...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT RETURNABLE!
I have slept on 2 regular pillows for some time and thought this would be a better solution to my sinus and acid reflux problems. I didn't realize that 12" would be too high and I kept sliding down during the night. Be sure you choose wisely, as this seller does NOT allow refunds on pillows. I was not made aware of this anytime during the buying process. The 7" height...

5.0 out of 5 stars all the difference in the world, January 11, 2007
I have severe acid reflux, and, even with prescription and OTC medicines, I was still waking up almost every night of the week with miserable, choking acid symptoms.

The first night I got this was the first full night of sleep I'd had in ages. And, ever since getting this pillow two-plus months ago, I have had not one single night of acid-awakening. Not one! The difference is night and day, truly amazing.

An unexpected benefit is that the solid wedge pillow gives a great deal of back support; I've noticed a difference in upper back pain in particular since getting the pillow. It's quite firm, so it keeps your back in a firm line.

This isn't a soft, cushy pillow and isn't meant to be, so do be aware of that. But it wouldn't work if it was. I repeat, this has been a tremendous health benefit for me, in more ways than one.

Also, it's much easier than elevating your bed with casters, and it's portable.

HIGHLY recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, February 10, 2007

I am so pleased with this item. I am a large person with a bad back and even worse neck. I was afraid this would compress flat, losing the benefits of the wedge shape. I was also afraid my back and neck couldn't handle the incline. Not so! It is very firm but still confortable, giving support to both neck and back. It's very sturdy. It is wide enough to allow me to sleep comfortably and long enough to give me room to put my contour pillow at the top and still have head room. No snoring or reflux since night one. The pillow case is soft and fits tight. Delivery was very fast. I would recommend this to everyone, unless you are looking for a soft, cushy, squishy thing just to sit up in bed.

I thought they might be able to do an exchange.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wedge Pillow, February 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this pillow because I am pregnant and need to sleep on an incline to get comfortable. I sleep a lot better with it, but because the incline is so steep, I often slide down the pillow as the night progresses, and I wake up with my head near the bottom of the pillow. I would have preferred one that had more grip or ridges, to prevent me from sliding. I do like the level of incline I am in, and plan to continue to use the pillow post-pregnancy.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and would buy it again! The pillow is surprisingly firm, which is great for my back.

We purchased this as an alternative to the Liberator Ramp sex pillow. Not as fancy but it works as a much cheaper substitute. Better than spending the $100+ on the ramp. We are even considering making our own cover.

The pillow is just a big piece of foam. That's not so bad, but the covers don't seem to fit very well. The one that came with the pillow split a seam in the first week. We purchased two replacement covers and destroyed the flimsy plastic zippers on both of them trying to get them on. The covers are a VERY tight fit. If you intend to take them on and off to launder them with any frequency - you might want to look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars This pillow changed my life (sleep apnea survivor), December 23, 2010

If you want to stop snoring and maybe stop your sleep apnea all together I HIGHLY recommend this pillow.

2 years ago I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I am 41 now, 6 foot was 235 lbs with BMI around 31. I tried numerous pillows. C-Pap and Bi-pap which i could not tolerate (felt like i was being smothered), tried ambien, lunesta, snoring strips, other pillows, dental guard, and was about to plunge into the UUUV surgery and maybe more which only has a 40% success rate.

My Apnea is/was bad = 240 instances per 7 hours of sleep of where I stopped breathing for an average of 21 seconds. If you don't treat it, your blood pressure rises, leptin hormones increase, REM goes down to nothing, your constantly tired and you run the risk of stroke/heart attack. On top of it your oxygen saturation can drop to 88-93% which is like trying to breath on the top of mount everest. You go through the day with a headache or migraine (shows up on a MRI of brain) and its probably killing brain cells. Try holding your breath for 21 seconds every minute for 7 hours during the waking day...if you know the pain and have read this far you know what i mean.

Before I got this pillow i was snoring so loudly that I had to sleep in another room from my wife and she could still hear me. I even recorded my snoring on my iphone record app and sure enough it sounded LOUD and terrible. This went on for 6 months until I stumbled upon this pillow. I got used to the ramp pillow instantly and add a pillow to it when i sleep (no problem on back or side). My snoring and apnea stopped THAT NIGHT. I have only snored twice in the last 4-5 months because I was sick with strep and once because my head fell off the pillow.

I have dropped 10 lbs due to the re balancing of hormones. When i travel now (rarely) I buy this pillow and have it send to where i will be. Thats how much this $30 pillow is worth it for me. I just pray it doesn't stop working. I think it works because it keeps your neck in a position where the weight of your neck doesn't collapse your windpipe. My GERD/acid reflux also stopped immediately.

All I know is that it works for me and I hope it works for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Esophageal/Gastric Cancer Sleep Relief, January 12, 2008
After Esophageal/gastric cancer surgery, this pillow has been great. It's the perfect height to prevent reflux from spilling into lungs, and the perfect angle so he doesnt slide down the bed. It's comfortable, firm, light weight and perfect for the price. (worth trying!!) I wish we had found this 18 months ago, and saved us alot of sleepless nights with stacks of pillows.

**Dont ignore the reflux, or mask it with antacids.. it could be an early warning sign of Barretts, or even worse, Esophageal cancer!! One simple test (endoscopy) could save your life!

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money, August 3, 2008
I recently purchased this wedge after my doctor informed me that I have advanced reflux and changes in the lining of my esophagus. He encouraged me to either lift the legs of the head of my bed on bricks, etc., or to purchase a wedge. I thought the wedge would be a better solution, so I went on-line to research wedges. I chose this wedge due to the multiple positive reviews, but I simply can't believe that people can sleep on it. The package arrived very quickly, and I tried it out the first night it arrived. I found the angle of the wedge to be too high. Throughout the night I slid down the wedge, and there is no give to it so I woke up multiple times throughout the night. I found it impossible to lie on my side as well. Research shows that only a six inch rise is necessary to relieve reflux symptoms, so my advice would be to purchase one that is only six inches in height. Also, this is not a returnable item. Something which was never brought to my attention, so consider yourself warned.

There is an overpriced similar product called the Liberator Wedge that is sold for adding/altering positions for sex. This does the same at a much better price.
